Hi all,

I have just purhcased some SCHWALBE 700X35C MARATHONPLUS SMARTGUARD BIKE TYRES and KENDA 700 X 35 HYBRID BICYCLE INNER TUBES PRESTA VALVE to go on my Giant CRS4 Hybrid and as i have never fitted tyres before i am told these new tyres are a nightmare to fit and wanted to know what the best way and any tips to fitting these tyres and tubes onto my bike

It would take me ages to type the speed i go!
I'm crap (technically) but wot I do is search You Tube for self-help videos. You invariably find a video that will not only tell you but show you how to do it!

Just watched the video. He suggests to pump the tyre up before putting it into the wheel / tyre. I fear i might pinch the new tybe

Having recently started paying a bike shop to do things like this for me, I feel my life is about 100% better now.

The job gets done properly, first time.

It doesn't cost a lot.

I can ride in confidence knowing my idiocy isn't going to leave me walking 8 miles.

The time it takes me to do bike stuff I'd rather spend doing something else.

Horses for courses though, if i it was fitting a new graphics card or RAM or installing windows on a PC I'd do that myself, just haven't got the years of experience in bikes or the time to make it up!

I remember when I 1st got my bike last year, friend of mine showed me some basics-tyre changing etc he made it look so easy taking my M+ off and on again.I tried and struggled like mad 1st few times but it does get easier with practice.
Before you know it you'll be changing tubes and be back on the road in 10 mins:biggrin:

Just don't over inflate the tube - just enough for it form its shape so you can locate into the tyre, correctly oriented with the valve located thro the rim and then (once he whole of one side of the tyre bead is located into the rim) you can start to gradually feed the bead into place - locating the bead of the tyre nearest the valve first and leaving the last quadrant of tyre - opposite the valve - to be levered carefully up over the rim.

Final obvious tip. Do it the night or day before. Once you can see your handiwork has worked by leaving it overnight with no loss of pressure you can go on your ride with confidence. The more confident you get a doing this sort of repair the more likely you'll be at being able to self-rpair at the roadside which in turn will give you the confidence to cycle further distances etc.

Best of luck - I haven't heard the innertube burst yet!
