Rookie mistake.Thick butter, so it melts, mixes in with the bacon grease & the egg yolk and soaks into the bread. Then down that clean shirt you put on this morning.

Have you been speaking with @Patrick Stevens recently? Sounds like one of his recipes...doorstep slice of bread with a good spreading of butter and 4 slices of good quality back bacon cooked so its not dry n crispy but mouth wateringly moist. a poached egg on top of the bacon with a twist of black pepper and the other doorstep (also with butter on) on top.
Yeah, it doesn't even taste nice toasted. It is for my breakfast tried instead of brown bread - fail
