Thanks for those quick replies guys. I'll give it some thought and will give you a definite if I decide to tag along.
Cheers
Geoff
@GBC as the newest member of the swinging sixties club, would probably be able to give you an indication of how it is. As mike says, it's not a racing snakes ride, it averages out a 12-13 mph pace and there are regroups every few miles to let me catch up at the back

Cheers Louch. That's quite reassuring. Comin' up to Killin for a 4 day cycle camping trip tomorrow. SWMBO has to be back at work on 2nd but I could come up in my camper (leaving it at Ardrossan) to join you. I'll see how I get on with the 45 mile day from Pitlochry up Glen Lyon on my fully laden tourer next week. I reckon if I'm OK with that I should be OK for the Arran circuit on my new Cube Peloton Pro. Again, I'm a relative beginner with cycling but consider myself quite fit; regular cyclist and hillwalker.
Promise I'll let you know one way or t'other.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to me.
Cheers
Geoff

Geoff, if it's a cube you ride, we will look like a team at the back of the group. I have the peloton race  parking at the harbour is 3 quid for the day, not sure on overnight but it's reasonable .

Good. Sounds like team Cube. If I come up it'd be on the Friday and I'd wild camp somewhere out in the countryside before Ardrossan.
Must go to bed. Consumed beer & wine and need to be up for 07:30 depart tomorrow for the long drag up the motorway. Bacon butties at Tebay.
Be in touch.

Hi @Geoff Crowther, and thanks @Louch for the kind and sympathetic introduction:sad:
I've just turned 60, relatively fit, but could do with losing a stone or four, and I can assure you that you won't have any problem keeping up at all. The run round Arran is quite stupendous in terms of scenery, roads are very quiet once we turn north, and you'll not get better company anywhere:thumbsup:
Hope you can make it...

Any more pics of Arran posted and I'm reporting them. Already 11 days too far away
Don't tempt me...you should make a run up Goat Fell part of the day out, you could cycle to roughly 700ft from the top (if memory serves me)
Great photo! Arran, Bute and the Cumbraes all in the same shot. Showing my place of birth and current home town too.
Aye a wee bit more N but still some view...
