If it was a statement issued by Armstrong, it'll be a lie
Yes, that looks right :
Fina blocks Armstrong's return

The USADA ban doesn't mean the guy has to curl up and die. He's a natural competitor, enjoys to take part and win, what else would you have him do?

If it were anyone else, I might feel sorry for him at being reduced to such things but, nah, that's what punishment means. He deserves it. But even I don't expect him to denied everything.

Curl up and die.

Now I don't want to come across like I'm condoning what he did, because I'm not, but life goes on. Should he not be cut just a little slack to try his hand at something else?

His cycling career has come crashing down around him, albeit because of his own stupidity, but surely he should be given at least a little opportunity to learn from his mistake.

He might turn out to be completely rubbish at swimming anyway, so they might as well at least give him ONE chance to compete. That's what I think anyway...

Drop out of sight. Head down and be forgotten. Enjoy what money he has left. Keep away from sport, specifically one we all love, which he has degraded not just by his chemical antics, but with the constant lies and intimidations of other people. Plenty of people are natural competitors, some good, some not so good, but tried to succeed the right way, and I don't want him or quite a few of the others who have been caught more than once back in the sport, as riders or in management. I have some sympathy (not much) for those who have made mistakes, paid the price, and have come back clean, but not for all of them. Especially those who write books, etc., and make more money from their "confessions".
They can all disappear into a corner and stay there.
Rather an old has-been who can look the world in the eye and sleep at night, than have "achieved" more with the aid of illegal substances. How can your kids ever respect you when you tell them they should do things the honest way, otherwise?

How much slack did he cut those people that he sued?

A good point I suppose. It is one thing doing something that you know is wrong. But quite another to sue people you know are right for shouting that you've been doing something wrong. The hypocrisy of it is quite breathtaking really.

That said, I still think everyone's capable of learning from the past, and making amends in some way. But on reflection, perhaps working round a ban by taking up a sport that it doesn't apply to isn't a very good way of doing it when all is said and done.

I remember this chap from the sports pages some years ago. I seem to recall he was a bicyclist, not a swimmer.

He won several races all the way round France. I went to Brittany once, which is only a little bit of France but I was still tired after cycling to the boulangerie, which is what they call a baker for no reason I can fathom.

I take my hat off to a chap who can cycle right round a jolly big country and beat twenty or thirty other chaps in a race while doing so. I don't remember which team he played for, but their strip was yellow. I think he wrote a book and before that he was a rocketeer or similar.

Swimming now? I'd love to know what he has for breakfast!!
I agree, but did you see the Oprah interview?
No - not in it's entirety. I saw the tiny chunks that the BBC put on News 24. Maybe I need to watch the whole thing and see if my position's still the same afterwards...

Here for rides.
I've only got one thing to say about FINA asking for him to be banned.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Serves the cheating skunk right. I wouldn't swim in a pool he'd been in, in case I was contaminated. He is a pariah and should be treated as such.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned an ex-fan boy.
