Are any CCrs really going to suffer in this heat ?

I might nip out this evening but before it actually gets dark. I'm not sure that it will be that much cooler but at least I won't need a 1 cm thickness of sunblock to avoid sunburn!
That worked really well!

It was lovely and warm with fine blue skies, but the sun was no longer fierce enough to burn me, and a lot of the time it was down behind hill crests or trees anyway. I only did a quick 15 km ride on my singlespeed bike but I took in a couple of hills to make the ride more interesting. I'll try to do something similar on Tuesday evening.

I think the summer of 2018 was hotter than this one, even though today will see record temperatures. Four years ago we had many weeks of almost constant sunshine and no rain. It was so dry that the grass turned straw coloured, which hasn't happened this year. I remember a 'I've read it in the Daily Star, so it must be true' neighbour saying in August of that year "If we don't get rain in 2 weeks we'll be fighting in the streets for water"!!
Come September the heavens opened and it rained for 2 months.:rain:

Many of the reservoirs round here seem to be below about 25% capacity now! Nothing like the great Yorkshire drought of 1995 though, when it really WAS dry for months...

That could be the year the reservoir 1 mile up the road almost drained.🤔

Above is the smaller reservoir. Below is the adjoining bigger one.

And we'd no rain on Saint Swithen's Day(Last Friday) either!

Strangely, broke into a sweat at work this evening. Going to have to take it steady for the next couple of days.

Oslo (which is about a day behind the UK) is set to record 30 degrees on Wednesday.

A friend who moved back home north recently is expecting a 9 degree rise above norm for the day - to 20 C. That's well into arctic circle territory without a scarf.

28 Celsius here in my kitchen as I post. Why is east Lancashire 'hotter' than west Yorkshire I wonder? 🤔

Simple. Temperatures of buildings differ according to their size, the amount and direction of glazing, their building materials, their surroundings and lots of other factors.

It's 26 in deep shade outside this morning which explains why my night under canvas felt little cooler than indoors.
