Are any CCrs really going to suffer in this heat ?

had hot coffee but went for a lie down power nap part way through due to screen fatigue to compliment the caffeine boost  After that I enjoyed the remaining tepid coffee and am now having a chilled IPA before rinsing off the musty sweat an invigorating shower :okay:
Any news since the "invigorating shower".

Speak for yourself, BUT, that is NOT the case down here, certainly not !

Certainly not in London either where there are grass fires burning

I certainly have now I've stopped pedaling and sat in the shade with a large glass of ice and water :heat:

I had 3/4 litre of water in the fridge last night to drink later on. It was okay out of the fridge for about 10 minutes but after that it became tepid and unpleasant to drink.

I've made 2 trays of ice cubes for tonight so I can actually have some cold drinks!

Over 40 in my garden office for most of the afternoon, but I worked in there anyway.
A quite-deliberate ploy so that now I've come into the 30* degree house, it actually feels cool. :sun::becool:

The "heatwave lite" that we have enjoyed on the Costa Clyde for all of 24 hours now, has come to an end with a brief spell of thunder and lightning.

Looks like it's all downhill now, with heavy rain this weekend and maximum temperature of 14C on Sunday. The wind is returning too.

Oh well, 24 hours of summer is better than none, which is always a possibility for us.

So I guess the old joke needs to be tweaked:
Scotland has two seasons:
winter, and
August

Just got home from the commute. Before I left I soaked my shirt, shorts and hat. Within 5 minutes they were all dry from the heat. Got home and had a nice and bracing cold shower to cool down.

I soaked my bandana before going out at 19:30 yesterday and even at that time it was 90% dry after less than an hour out there.

It has been an interesting experience but I will be much happier with temperatures of 15-25 C.

We have lots of fields on fire near us, no firefighters present as they are all dealing with other major field blazes

I had been trying to contact a friend but her mobile wasn't responding. I finally got to speak to her on a different number and discovered that the heat seems to have got to her phone. Apparently the back of the device suddenly popped off as the battery bulged outwards - YIKES!

It could be a pure coincidence that it happened on the hottest UK day on record, but I suspect not.

I'm seeing her tomorrow. I'll ask if she had done something daft like leaving the phone in the full heat of the sun for hours.

She needs that battery replaced asap.
