But I'm an inquisitive person and would like to understand how anyone finds a picture and seemingly unrelated caption funny.

I agree with Richard. I like to understand and if after the explanation it isn't funny, then I can move on. But there is no point in just ignoring it when you don't understand it, that way you never learn anything.

The joke is that she is having an affair and pretended the love bites were injuries from being at a demonstration.

My interpretation of the "joke" is that the lass has quite literally "f*cked the police" (or someone else) and come back with love bites which she's tried to pass of as the result of police brutality. I suppose it helps if you're familiar with the NWA song of the same name.

It's not particularly funny.
