I know they have 'local' groups but I have never tried them.

Local groups vary a bit.
Our main one is polluted with ads for fancy food aimed at the touroid who like to tell us how to conduct out lives but among the dross is often some important information so I check daily.
Isle of Harris is a hoot and takes the mickey out of the touroid so always good for a laugh.
In Oban area there is a Roadwatch one which has a very useful function and is free of rubbish.
