... and are you all assuming she is white?
Probably, for all the reasons given above for it also being 'normal' to assume the rider was male. Doesn't make it right.. although as someone said above, the real 'crime' is then acting on the assumption in a way that may be detrimental to the person.

Actually GC, the first of those is a justified assumption, as Linford's post said that she raced until motherhood changed her priorities. So unless she's had some unusual medical treatment, if she became a mother after that pic was taken, then she is almost certainly below 70.

My first though upon seeing that picture, was :headshake: yuck, that just looks ugly in my eyes (but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder).

I have nothing against flowers, but in this case they are not an improvement.

Whether the person is male or female did not cross my mind until I actually read your post.

I do not watch motorbike racing, but it seems to be male dominated, so I see nothing wrong with making an assumption that this may be a man (although it would be a man with very bad taste in my eyes).

I don't really see how it was being sexist, although I am sure someone will come along and disagree with/correct me  .

That'll teach me.

I hadn't clicked on the link below the photo so was unaware of that. Doh!

having known a great many people of the 'feminist' persuasion... the simple fact that you're male could indicate you're inherently sexist. Not too dissimilar to my old vege/vegan friends who considered me a murderer for eating meat. I can be a funny old world at times.
