That's embarrassing. I use km and metres for most things except driving in the UK, and now it turns out that I've been obeying one of the velominati rules all along.

It is perfectly OK to obey any of the Velominati's rules, provided it is accidentally.
I am confused now, should they be followed or not?

I am post decimalisation myself, although I still do imperial for measuring, except for cooking where I weigh in metric. I am not sure if I am coming or going sometimes.

I also agree that the reference to Kendo Nagasaki is legendary :notworthy:

If you find yourself obeying a Velominati rule, take a long hard look at yourself. And then, having done that, take an even longer, harder look at yourself for realising the fact. And then, take a really, really long extremely hard look at yourself for caring.

I have a new outlook on the whole 'smug / passive agressive / knobber passing' thing now. I rode with Chris Froome, a couple of weeks back. That gives you perspective. I now just chuckle to myself, if I get a 'hero pass'.

yes - when I want to spend a penny

Yes but we don't spend a penny these days. its usually between twenty pence and fifty pence depending where you are, and if we're abroad and in Europe it tends to be half a euro.

I do know people who take the 'velominati rules' as gospel, they really do:laugh:. I email them a link to a very NSFW song, on YouTube. They get the message:thumbsup:.

I think anybody who rubbish Electric bikes because pensioners pass them, must be Very selfish. Without the Electric bike the tweed pensioner may not be able to carry on a pastime he has been able to enjoy for decades. Who would want to deny him of that for as long as possible?

A bit off topic but. I once chased a guy who looked like he was on a mountain bike up a great big hill and couldn't understand why I was struggling to catch up. Nearly killed myself trying and it wasn't untill i got right up behind him that I realised he was on an electric bike and just pootling along while I was about to expire.
I'm sure theres a lesson to be learned there!

Electric bikes SHOULD (as they are by law in the UK) be limited to 15mph when assisted, I'd only have a problem if I was doing the usual 17-18 and one went passed me not being ridden by a pro ;)

Hill is a different matter, I earn those!

I love seeing people on thier electric assist bikes though, they always seem like they are having a great time.
