I remember reading Susan Blackmoore's book The Meme Machine when it came out. Just checked - 1999. I think I was aware of the term before that but I'm not sure.

It's those pictures explaining certain cultural references on the Interweb.

I think it's pronounced 'Meem', although even now, I always read it as 'mem'

I have only just realised that my phone can receive photos in MMS messages! The settings were wrong on my previous phone so they never worked.

Having found that out, I learned how to send one back and just did that.

Next thing to learn is how much that costs, because I know my call package doesn't cover MMS.

I have just learned that giffgaff charge 30p/MMS.

I have also learned that Google Messenger heavily compresses images to send them.

It is getting a bit late now so tomorrow I will call the recipient of my test message and ask how bad/good the extra-compressed photo was at that end.

I quite liked Dumbarton as I lived in Bowling for 12 years. It had a good swimming pool and good library as well as a political club I was a member of. I got my last car before we moved away from Buchanan at Dalreoch. The owner was Gordon Buchanan the broadcasters grandfather.
