Isn’t it Trading Standards whose job is to crack down on sellers and buyers of counterfeit goods

How did she pay for this rubbish? If on a credit or debit card she could try a chargeback saying she didn’t receive the goods she expected. A long shot obviously but just need to complete a form

I phoned Trading Standards at Lancs County Council today. They were ok, even when I mentioned my neighbour buying dodgy items. The bloke told me that they're not really bothered about one off transactions, It's the frequent purchasing of illegal items that causes them concern, meaning if you keep buying dodgy stuff they'll probably take you to court, but a one off can be excused. As for the seller of that fake object, he told me they are well known to them, but prosecuting them and closing them down isn't that simple. He told me that he'd contact them on my neighbour's behalf and advise them to reimburse here, but again they can't really make them pay her back. He also advised using the small claims court, but once again he told me they are so crafty they'd probably wangle out of that as well. As for 'chargeback', my neighbour told me today that the watch was signed for by her, with her giving her signature on one of those hand held devices, using your finger tip. It was also delivered by the Post Office, so for her to say that it wasn't delivered, to me would be seen as a fraudulent act, accusing the P/O of not delivering an item no matter how 'dodgy'/worthless it was/is. Which when proved they did deliver it, due to her signature being on the hand held device would land her in a lot more trouble tham losing £237!

I didn’t say anything about not being delivered

She/neighbour did think that the more she paid the better the quality would be.
Cheap compared to some

E.g. https://www.swissking.to/rolex-yacht-master-ii-2-tone-18k-everose-gold-116681-ceramic-bezel.htm

The more expensive ones are supposedly very close to the original and hard to differentiate between a fake and the genuine item. There is obviously the intent to deceive with those ones.

That’s a joke

Oh right, I thought you meant she should say they 'goods' didn't arrive. I see now you meant they did arrive but weren't what she expected. Well she could say that, but who then compensates her? The seller won't so who will? 🤔

The credit card company does a chargeback so takes the funds back from the seller. They can dispute but seems unlikely in this case!

Mmm, I like this one, but I'm not a leather strap fan. After a while they look shabby and eventually break/snap. It's also a calf leather strap! Could you feel comfy knowing that a baby cow has died, just so you can have a watch on your wrist?!

Leather mostly a by product of meat production, for calfskin, baby moo became veal (like daddy became beef)
