If its evidence you want, you can perform your own experiment, go crack your head against a kerb at 20 mph with a helmet, the repeat without. Probably best in that order. Have your friends/relatives post on here with how you got on.

It was worth re-visiting this thread just for that, funny as owt!

The sooner the law changes to compulsory helmets the better. The roads are a very different place now than they were 100 years ago.

Sorry folks.....

But what an appalling post......

An Evangelist who has their own axe to grind, and flies in the face of all the evidence to try and impose their wishes on others....

Please answer one question...

Two patients on a head injury ward with similar injuries

On is a cyclist
One is a pedestrian

Why do you feel thatt one is unacceptable and should have been prevented, but the other equally traumatic injury is acceptable and there is no requirement to prevent it

I suspect it will not be answered, but the lack of an answer will speak volumes about the veracity and factual basis of the absurd stance on compulsion

I don't think I've contributed to a helmet thread before, probably wise on my part, but I think I'll break a habit here.

Firstly to declare my position, I mainly wear a lid, but not always. I am not for compulsion, much preferring personal choice. And finally I would never tell anyone if they should or shouldn't, that's their business not mine.

It struck me that as a child I cycled a lot and never wore a lid. I am sure I had my fair share of spills. As an adult when I returned to cycling I mainly wear a lid and don't fall off anywhere near as much. The irony struck me somewhat.

Which proves what?

If we accept the "proof" you offer it is also unequivocal proof that pedestrians, children, dogs, cats, goldfish or even hamsters should wear helmets
