What distance have you ridden them? I've done about 1500km on a pair of gatorskins, the only puncture being a thorn in the sidewall...

I used to puncture every 2-300km on Rubino Pros on roughly the same routes. Before that I had a set of Marathons which started puncturing every 20km, after taking them off and relegating them to the back of the shed for a few months I eventually took the time to find the tiniest shard of glass embedded in them.

I would say close to 3000 miles now . I swapped them for armadillos and have one puncture since . I then went over the gatorskins with a fine tooth comb , found nothing and put them on my "good" bike and have had another puncture since

Im not a fan of gatorskins after about 20 punctures now . I stopped counting after 15

I was of the same view and getting weekly punctures, so bought a Durano - but on swapping spotted an internal (damage-related) lumpy bit which was presumably puncturing my tubes. The remaining original gatorskin and new durano have both been puncture free for perhaps 10000 and 2000 miles respectively (unless there's one I've forgotten about)

Still running the front one and not to sure on mileage, but was quite shocked on roadside inspection after Christmas and the fairies first visit. Me thinks being forced into the gutter by motorists and a rough century with luggage did for things.

Undoubtably rubber abuse had a bearing (lazy on maintenance), so anything less durable may be a mistake. So gonna go the same again, I think at least for one wheel.

Its just that a secondhand Hutchinson 27" kevlar tyre I had seemed to go on forever and I was wondering whether I might get something similar.

i have had Conti 4 seasons (25mm) on for the last 8 months- no probs at all. excellent tyres, roll well and great puncture resistance - i only use 25mm- i think they give a better ride.

got some new wheels for summer and have put GP4000s (25mm of course) on them. Plan to change the wheels over soon.I shall then comment on how the GP4000's compare

I have 700c x 25 Hardshells because I live in the potholed hell that is rural Cheshire / Shropshire, and all the fields have hawthorn hedges which get flailed to death every autumn. And boy, are those hawthorns sharp. They'll puncture steel plate.

To date, I've not had either a snakebite or one of hose things that the P* fairy brings on the Hardshells. And they were no harder to get on my Mavic rims than any other tyre. Make sure the bead is inside the rim well, and ease on with your thumbs.

All of which proves nothing - but they work for me - but they are a bit pricy.......

I had a Hardshell on the rear of my commuter for a couple of years with no problems. However, I prefer Conti GP 4 Seasons, which I have on my good bike - fast, reliable and robust.

Bontrager Race Lite Hardcases, I've been using them for years and find them very good.

darn no more 23mm  Can only fit 23s on the fixed with the crud racers .

had my first visitation with them last week, been fine up till then. It was a 2 inch slither of metal so not expected to beat that.

To the OP I`m running Durano 25mm on the new bike ( came with them ) seem not bad, normally I switch to Mich pro 4 in summer in a 23mm.

I've had normal 25mm gatorskins on a set of wheels for a couple of thousand miles and had one puncture so they are pretty good. Having said that I've also commuted 26 miles a day all winter down country lanes on a pair of low end 23mm vittoria zafiros and not had any punctures at all. I try to ride on the line made by cars' passenger side tyres which tends to be clear of thorns so maybe it's more to do with riding position than tyre choice. Just a thought.

The Mich Pro 4 Endurance come up quite narrow and have a low height. More like 20s so maybe the 25 would fit anyone with clearance issues.

I've got DuranoPlus 25s on my winter bike having moved from Gatorskins and much prefer the Durano. It's worth pointing out that the Gators were 23s so some of the improvement in real will have come from the change in width but I feel the Duranos are grippier, roll better and at the very least are no worse that the Gators in terms of durability - I'd goes as far to say they were better but I've not had any problems with either. When I next buy tyres for that bike, it will be another set of DuranoPlus but after 18 months, it doesn't look like it's going to be any time soon.
I agree the durano plus 25s are excellent. You cant go wrong.

As I said earlier I have just switched from gaterskins to Conti GP4000's for the summer, also gone down from 25's to 23's. I was curious to see if they made a difference and boy do they. I gave them their first good run today on one of my regular routes, the 38 mile Harlow Loop.

My best speed ever on that is 17.0mph and my best this year was 15.5mph. Much to my surprise I did a 17.2mph breaking both bests. The best this year ride was already done on my new wheels so the only change in variables today was the tyres. It was a bit windy and there was some traffic, same as usual. I did not even feel that I was going that hard. Hopefully with some warmer weather, I'd be looking at nearer 18.0mph.

These tyres clearly roll really well and if it speed you are after are a good bet. I will reserve judgement about reliability, but the reviews about them on that score are pretty good as well. I expect I will be moving onto a Gaterskin/GP4000 winter/summer combo from now on!

I will do my April century on them next weekend and will see what difference that makes.
