I’m very much in favour of vaccine passports for access to a number of services. If we get to the end of July and 25% of the adult population have refused to be vaccinated, that just creates a large pool for mutations to evolve. If we can’t use the stick for vaccinations (I don’t think we should) then at least have a few more carrots.

How many of you are in favour of compulsory vaccination? Whether it be compulsory by 'shame them','no vax,no entry,or by actual force.
I won't be having the jab and that's my right to choose. If people want to take an experimental vaccine that's their choice which I respect.

Nobody knows the long term affects of the vaccine
Sorry, honestly I'm not picking on you today, but you're not making much sense, you're 60 years old, you already claim to be in poor health, you're unlikely to father anymore children, how long are these long term effects you speak of, will you be around long term for them to matter, we're the same age & I know I won't. Do what is right for your fellow citizens & get the vaccine, so we can all move on with our lives.

This... any mutations of Covid in unvaccinated people that then affect those people who have taken care to be vaccinated would be incredibly selfish on the part of those who choose not to take a vaccine jab. I appreciate that a number of people cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

The world seems an odd place at times.

Remember though, the vaccine will have some effect on other variants, and you won't be as poorly. I'm less concerned about getting it, but there are a heck of a lot of healthy fit people with long covid - this is a worry. It's a lottery if you get that and it sounds horrendous.

I don't buy the conspiracy theories/not tested enough etc etc - just farkin do it. Those that refuse, I do hope they don't have any vulnerable relatives. The vaccine reduces transmission ! Yes were likely to have to get boosters, but not bothering may put you at further risk in the future, well at great risk come the end of June when loads of youngsters won't be vaccinated yet and you might just pick it up from one of your mates in the pub who has teens !

Once we get back to 'normal' the virus will be flying round again, but luckily, there will be less hospital cases.

I hear such words and then think of the Soviet Union,China or North Korea.

If i was mid 70's or above i'd have the vaccine,as i'd see it as buying a few more years of life with not much to lose, but i maybe have 20 odd years left, who knows. I'm not after buying a few more years of life yet,so no thanks.

world war 11 men gave their lives for Liberty
2021 men give up their liberty for the flu.
Many who survived the WW1 died of flu immediately after... the opportunity to have a vaccine that prevents serious illness and you from premature death seems a reasonable thing to do but it depends on how you value other people's lives and risk to your own.

Mod note:

We really need to avoid getting into Covid/Vaccine discussions here in Chat as the thread will then replicate those that are running in NACA in which case it will be closed/moved/merged although the OP would then be stickied on its own and left in Chat as per its original intention.

Probably best to stick to personal experiences & views of the specific service offering from the NHS link.

For Covid debates/discussions please head to NACA.

NB: even if you don't 'like' NACA there are a couple of very good threads in there re Covid that are packed with useful information - worth a visit and to date we have had very few (and they were minor) issues with maintaining civility in them.

Give them a try! :okay:

There is talk of the NHS app being used for vaccination passports. If so, then people need to be aware that registering it is quite a palaver and if in weeks to come, there is a sudden rush in demand, it may be better to set up the login it requires sooner rather than later.

As well as your NHS number (we found ours were out of date and that was a problem in itself), you have to submit a passport or driving licence photo and then a scan of your face which goes off to be verified against the photo while you wait for this to be approved. For some reason, I had to do a video and some voice commands whereas Mrs R did not. Plus there are the usual email and phone text verification checks. You are talked through the whole process step by step but it does take a while and if any one step fails, it could take a while to resolve.

Registering with the NHS is one of the most soul destroying experiences anyone can have. Only a total idiot can have been in charge when that system was devised. There are some major idiots in NHS and I assume they all got together to make things as awkward as possible.
What other website requires you to be sent a letter by snail mail to confirm that you are eligble to register?
It, like most of the NHS digital programmes, is not fit for purpose.

I was going to add this to the over 60s vaccination thread but it is now closed. It might be useful for some of you.

did mine after seeing this a few minute ago.

all done ane confirmation email received in 15 minutes

EDIT

Just been online on the app and linked to my GP practice.

all my repeat meds are there and the repeat scrip I requested online on 19 Feb.

To me, it looks like joined-up thinking and trivially easy to sign up and use.
