I am laughing at the absolute needless excess and expense of the supplement intake!

I wouldn't eat that much if I rode 200 miles in a day, but unfortunately, your post would have been very hurtful for someone who has obviously gone well past their normal range, and had to employ every trick they could think of to do it. It is difficult to remember, sometimes, that not only are there humans on the other side of the screen we post on, but that we all, at some stage, have come up against our physical limits before we were fully bike-fit. Two years ago, after a couple of operations which cured stuff which had kept me off a bike for 18 months, I was thrilled to do a 15 mile ride. I wouldn't have been too thrilled to have been laughed at for that, however much I ate in the process.

LMFAO, how many days did it take you?

It took six hours including a one hour lunch stop so average was around 10mph.

I have been cycling a few months, before Saturday my longest ride was 20 miles and I'm on a fourteen year mountain bike bought when I was a teenager and about a foot shorter than I am now.

I know from experience I can bonk very easily, I think it's down to my fast metabolism I've always eaten whatever the hell I want and still been a lanky streak of p*ss. I've been experimenting with nutrition and find a gel an hour about right to keep me going but I'm glad you find it so funny.

Of course I could have done it without using supplements but they're convenient and I've found they work well for me.

Thanks to those of you who understand what an achievement I felt this milestone was and to the others as I said I'm glad I could provide some entertainment

I did a 80 mile sportive yesterday, I am always poor with my pre and during ride nutrition. I had a bagel and a banana before, took some food with me didnt eat anything before the half way stop when I gulped down my water which I had barely touched. I had 3 Jaffa cakes at the half way stop. Result the worst ride of my life my average was down probably 1.5 mph from what it should have been. After 45 miles I didn't know how I was going to finish and if someone had stopped and offered me a lift I would have taken it. Had an energy gel which helped me get home, just.
I came home depressed not having really worked out what had caused my dire performance, but then I realised it was lack of fuel
Lesson learnt .... Until the next time I decide I not need to eat till I'm hungry, drink till I'm thirsty. I am so stupid sometimes, going out for a 50 tomorrow and am going to eat every 20 mins without fail.
