Tonight, it’s been on both the BBC and ITV Welsh evening news programmes. All those interviewed, including my niece, we’re very excited about the fact that the Tour de France is coming to Wales.
A pity that the first words out of our first minister’s mouth were about it being a huge opportunity, because of the millions of tv viewers in Europe, watching the race….

Looking forward to this, I assume the Welsh stage will have either the star, finish or both in Cardiff but hopefully it takes in a few of the classic South Wales climbs. It should really have the start or finish in Abergavenny as that’s the home of Welsh cycling.

We are certainly used to road closures! I won’t hold my breathe though.
We know the finish is in Cardiff, but due to the length of transfer, I wouldn’t be surprised if the start was somewhere in the Midlands.

Fairly confident that this will be broadcast FTA & live. Otherwise, just what is the point?
Apart from the tourism revenue. Obviously.
Furthermore, and IIRC, BBC Northern Ireland broadcast the 3 stages held for the 2014 Giro.

Very good news.

Sounds like it’s going to cover a lot of ground over 3 days.

The question is whether to spend some time in what will be a very expensive Edinburgh or come up with a plan to catch it in multiple locations.

You would hope this would inspire someone to pick up the FTA rights, so we only have 1 year in the wilderness. It just seems like such a huge opportunity to miss.

Hey, maybe our dreams will come true and WBD will realise their mistake and reactivate Eurosport in the UK for the 2027 season!
