Nothing for the bike.

Planning to do the NC500 in the camper as the Missus has never done it. I'll be taking the folder with me.

I have a feeling we may do the new Shropshire Gravel route. I think we need to cut the mileage down a bit each day so as not to be spending 8 hours a day riding it, and allowing for some sight seeing and relaxed lunch. KAW was tough over 4 days in September. Otherwise it's bike and camping trips in the 'van' when I get it.

Oh, and I need to pack lighter !

I've been daydreaming about taking the ferry to Ouistreham, cycling to St Mâlo and getting the ferry back; then I had a sudden hankering to take ferry and train to Konstanz and cycle back.

Discussed with Ms AU and she asked
" Why not do both?"

Crikey.

Early stages of planning a ride from home via Harwich/ Hook to Maastricht and then the Vennbahn ( a cycle path on an old railway line that is Belgian territory within Germany in places) all via some national parks for a spot of birding. Then bimbling back through Belgium and south NL. Will probably go in late April/ early May next year as this years early April NL trip was a little chilly, and there should be a few more summer migrants turning up by then too.

After a few years of my big trip being on the mountain bike I've got a big desire to get back out on the Gravel bike. I'm currently creating a route that starts in the middle of Austria, through the mountains to Slovenia, then over the Julian Alps down to the Italian coast at Trieste. Hopefully lots of fine gravel roads and mountain passes. It will be a July trip, just not sure when in July, so could be hot and dry or cold and wet, or all of that in one day!

Smaller trips I haven't planned, but no doubt they'll be quite a few as usual.

I was looking at doing the Glaudax Tour de Bretagne in northern France but we've a major family birthday during it. I've not done an organised tour before and fancy trying one.

So I'm looking instead for a similar flattish tour that isn't the 20-30 mile daily distance others do.

Knock up your own tour to suit your needs.

For me, I can hear Scotland calling. Caledonia Way possibly. A week over Easter before the midges arrive.
