Carl, you should beat 3hrs. What you may lose in the ups you gain on the downs. Make the most of the flats with a group. Perhaps set a w/k target for reverse kom and don’t go chasing. Save that for the flat run in.

Looking to try and hold 180-200 watts on all sections. Might even go off quite hard and push up the hill first time around, just so that I can get into a decent group on the long 'flat' between mountains. Not sure yet ... may only make the call when in the pen depending how I feel

Anyone else joining me at 4 (UK time)?

Don't do that, I decided a wattage to climb first hill, which was too ambitious, second climb I again set a wattage but couldn't get anywhere near it and had to just accept my fate that Id overcooked the first climb. The long middle section of 15 miles can be a lonely place if you have burnt most of your matches.

look at your comfortable climbing pace and reduce it even further, save something for later. oh and the last 5miles will be killer good luck chuck

Don't go hard on the first climb because you will blow up half way round set a steady pace on the first climb some thing challenging but not hard, good luck carl

I was thinking anything that keeps me in a group on the flats and anything that is forward progress on the climbs, particularly the second time up the epic kom.

Theres so much BS in the results too. Guy with an ftp of 268 holds normalised power of 400w for 2h plus. Ummh...
Its why its not worth burning candles chasing others. Ride to your known ability/power and be prepared for a nasty last 5 miles!

I passed so many riders either coasting or stopped between the two climbs, save something, draft with anyone

So why did you go like a bat out of hell up the first climb ha ha - I was pushing too hard initially to stay with you, then just dropped the pace to get up with something left. Climb to the tower was OK, as was the drop down. On the flats I managed to work with a few other riders. never a big group, but enough to get some benefit and rest. I could see you slowly pulling me back and then you was as close as 3 seconds behind me as we hit the hill for the second time. I saw you dropping back so I did consider going back to help, but to be honest, I wasn't feeling too good by then and the thought of a few more minutes on the hill wasn't too appealing. I just paced myself up the KoM as 20-30 riders came past me. I couldn't react to anything though. Managed to find a rider on the down and we worked to catch 2 other riders on the flat. We worked OK until 2 got dropped on the little climbs. Just 2 of us then for the final 3 km, which felt the longest 3 km of my life. I am well and truely buggered now!!

Pleased with my time though
