Jo's off to India next Sunday for a week, so I'm making the most of being able to get out running - I can't really go out for early-morning runs and leave the boys at home alone. Then, next week, without having to be antisocial, I'll probably spend every evening, after the boys have gone to bed, either on Zwift or working.

I dug an old ANT+ HRM strap out of a drawer yesterday, intending that I could use one for Zwifting and one for running (and keep the better track of whereabouts they are), but I'm less than convinced about the accuracy of this morning's HR trace...

New roads being added to the France map today, with a Roubaix-like twist apparently: https://www.zwift.com/uk/this-season-on-zwift

Not that I'll see a lot of them, my subscription is ending in a week or so and I won't be re-subscribing until the winter. Enjoying riding outdoors too much at this moment.

The amount of potholes round here give the real world roads a nice Roubaix-like twist at times too!

Not really unexpected, is it?

Zwift was holding back with producing own hardware... Until Wahoo bought a virtual platform and tried to take the market share.

Zwift was holding back with trying to be a all-in-one training hub... Until Training Peaks bought a virtual platform and tried to take the market share.

Good for them, good for the consumer, actually probably also good specifically for me. Not a fan of having 20 accounts all over the place to get some insight and since I'm already on Zwift I'm happy to see it diversify. Business-wise it seems they have their heads properly screwed on.

I think I’ll just be trying to get some long hours in next week, rather than racing.

I’ve timed my latest acquisition poorly, since I won’t really have the opportunity to take it out on the open road until Jo gets back, ands the weather will probably have gone crap again by then.

I have one and like it.

I was doing most of my rides on the map page when navigating but then I started to miss the data fields on the workout page so I switched to using that.

I did my last ride with one of the fields set to show the distance to the next cue point so I had a good idea of when to relax and when to pay attention. I get an alert 250 m from each cue point and get cycle.travel to generate another alert 30 m from the point. That worked pretty well so I barely used the map page.

I find it easier to read the display when it is set to Dark Mode, especially on sunny days.

I rearrange the fields from the phone app according to the bike (power readings available?), whether I am using a HRM, and which numbers most interest me on the day. I like to order them so I can zoom in to focus on my favourite fields or zoom out to see the full set.

I haven't used all the features of the Wahoo yet. Nice device!

How have you found tpv..
I found it via an icon on my Apple TV box!

Oh, riding on TPV... Er, I burned myself out in about 5 minutes and had to stop...

I know that sounds silly but I do need to be careful not to do that! (Health issues.)

I have been taking advantage of the sunshine and getting out IRL so proper testing hasn't actually taken place yet. I am busy with family visits so it will be some time before I get back on the trainer.

The plan now is to try MyWhoosh out first. That is free so there would be no time pressure. Once I have a good feel for it I have a free Zwift trial to test that. If I feel satisfied with MyWhoosh I would go with that. If not, I would try TPV for a month or two to compare with Zwift.

I think that I will really like TPV but am slightly worried that there are (currently) not enough routes to stop me getting bored. Mind you, I imagine that they will be busy creating new ones.

Right... Sunny Devon lanes are calling me! :hello:

Had my chain snap on me yesterday as I was approaching the top of a steep climb (Symond's Yat). Never had that happen before.

Of course I tumbled off but luckily no major damage.

More annoyed as I was about to PB on that particular KOM 😞

Luckily Wendy, aka International Rescue, got to the car to get me back to the cabin (staying in the Forest of Dean).

Quick, make a new segment to cover the climb until you lost power! :hyper:
