Shame the meetup messed up last night. Only 3 times completed so far for the stage as a consequence. I rode with (New) Andy for a bit - being pretty naive in Zwift it took me a while to realise that we were on the wrong course. I called it a day after a half hour as the forecast looked good for today so thought I'd save my legs for a good ride itrw (although that's now been kiboshed by HID).

The Tour de Watopia (and therefore the new league) starts on Tuesday, so I'll keep the current league open until the end of Monday if you do fancy a solo slog up the Alpe (or any other stage for that matter).

If you do fancy joining the new league, just make sure that you have joined the Cyclechat team in ZwiftPower and you will be added if you complete a stage of the Tour de Watopia.

Current league table following last night's rides:

@peterob sorry to tell tales, but Del's time was 1:33:20 and not 1:23:20 (can't have @Norry1 beating me by default by having my time  )

As always, massive thanks for keeping the spreadsheet going. It's a real incentive to keep riding hard and getting fitter :okay:

Martin - comparing my ride last night and your best time on this segment (April 2018) I'm 6 mins ahead of you. But all this time advantage was on the Alpe where you only average 229 watts. If you can get this closer to your current FTP it will be very close. Let me know when you're riding and if I'm around I'll log in and cheer you on :wahhey:

Good spot Whorty. I had put Del's recent stage 6 time in there rather than his stage 8! It'll be corrected the next time you see the sheet.

Sorry @Del C - still a good time. Looked like you had a good rw ride yesterday with some lumps and bumps (including Ditchling Beacon) :okay:

I hadn’t noticed my time was wrong. Oh well!

Yes we went out via Ditchling and came back over Bostal Hill at Steyning. Ditchling was interesting. I stopped for a pee before the bottom, so I was climbing a little behind the main group. They were picking up an ever growing train of cars following them, which meant the cars were getting closer to me. I had to keep slowing so that I didn’t get too close and risk having to clip out and start again, which made the climb a bit weird and hard to keep any sort of rhythm.

But it was a great route and my first 100 miler this year! And I felt pretty strong all the way round, so all the Zwifting and workout training seems to have paid off. :boxing:

I did wonder about swapping to a TT bike for the descent??
Ha! See above - no TT bikes was in the rules for this one - but nothing to stop you changing to a more aero normal bike for the descent if you think it would save you more time than it takes to change over

On a not altogether unrelated note...

Does anybody have any experience of cheap Chinese aero wheels? I was thinking of taking a punt as it'd be good to have some for ToC and was thinking I might try a bit of TT'ing later in the year. Most my riding is in rolling terrain though so didn't want to pay too much for wheels I may not use that much.

I can get some 50mm or 60mm ones for approx $550 (+20% ish for import duties) from Farsports that seem to get decent reviews.

I recently got some zuss 50mm wheels and couldn’t be happier. Warranty and crash replacement made it an easier decision over the very popular Yoeleo wheels.
Less than £600 including nice red nipples and tubeless tyres fitted.

Believe cxrandy and Breedon have tried some , I have got some Chinese 50 mm but personally don’t get on with them as well as my hunt or campag - maybe just me though

Will try and set up meet for 5.30 if that’s ok @Breedon ?i have Got to try and go balls out all the way to stand any chance of keeping up with Paul’s time though
If you're going to set it up as a meet up can I suggest you just set it up as the "Road to Sky" route which will just go to the top of the Alpe and tell you it's finished, BUT remember to carry on and ride round the top and back down until you've ridden 34km so you complete the full segment?

When I set it up I changed the distance to 34km thinking it would do just this (changing the distance like that worked fine for us last time on a diffeent course), but instead it seemed to take us all on slightly different round about routes to make it up to 34km by the time you reached the top - which obviously won't work for the straight up and down segment.

So to confirm. Road to sky - 34km ? Cheers
