Well I hope I blew the last remnants of my cold away today.
Didn't feel particularly good starting the Tour of NY stage 3 at 6,00, but started well and I was around 100th place out of 600 going in to the first climb. Slipped back a little and then held it at around 120th place for a long time until the second climb. Second climb was hard, but held on and got to the top somewhere between 120th and 130th.
Thanks to
@Whorty and Chris for the Ride Ons. Oddly, they do keep you going!
Started the big descent and then as we hit the last 4 miles on the flat the fatigue really started to hit. I couldn't stay with the group I was with any longer and then was caught and passed by another group as I slipped back to around 150th.
Looked at the clock and could see I had a good chance of going under 1 hour. I was almost wasted by that time, but I stuck at it for a time of 58.50,
Took 6m 31s off my only other attempt, which I'm really pleased with after getting over a crappy cold and having to really hang on at the end.
Rushed back in from the garage to bore the arse off my wife with tales of PRs, w/kg and other turbo nonsense. She smiled at me as if I was saying something vaguely interesting and carried on cooking dinner.
I'm slumped on the sofa composing this bollocks now.
Carry on!
