High cadence drills for me past few days while I prepare my legs for a lot of mountain riding on Watopia or RGT/brvr over the next few weeks. I figure a mountain ride very other day with an easy recovery ride in between should work or is at least worth a try.

Very excited but also scared to be honest Dean. Not enough miles in the legs and what I have done is mainly on the turbo-good thing it's a NEO:okay: After not doing the DD I had to give up a place on the dragon ride today because my eldest son had the audacity to have his birthday today:rolleyes: How inconsiderate^_^

I am surprised mine wanted to spend some of the day with us though he did have his girlfriend here too. Enjoy them Dean.
I am pretty sure I can get up Ventoux but I was eyeing the cingles and that will be too much with my level of fitness.

Great 5 lap race in Watopia today. KISS C/D with ~25 C riders.

As was the case last week, I let the fast group go and settled in with a smaller second group. We started with just 3 as we headed out to the volcano. There was another group of 3 or so not far behind. Figuring I was better off in a bigger group where I could hide in the draft better I didn't mind merging the groups. Over the first couple laps we picked up another 3 or 4 stragglers that couldn't hold the pace of the fast group. I made a point to pay attention to the time for the little climb (~20 seconds) and the distance from the top of that climb to the finish line (already forgotten, but enough to latch on and catch my breath). So the plan became to jump ahead of the group on the climb, latch onto whomever caught me afterwards while catching my breath and see if I could over-take my group on the sprint finish.

Hit the last lap climb mid-pack and jumped ahead near the crest. Several riders came by quickly afterwards so I really didn't have time to catch my breath. Latched onto the group figuring it was less than a mile of pain. At about 1000ft out I dropped down a gear and brought the cadence up. It wasn't really a sprint, but it was everything I had left in the tank. Our group of 6/7 finished within 2 seconds of each other. After accounting for DQs, I finished 4th of 17.

The best news of all, my first two laps were the *slowest*. My last two were the fastest and within a second of each other.

It looks like I beat my time on the course from last week by a whopping 2 seconds, though apparently at a significantly lower average HR.

Nice one! I nearly joined that race but thought it would be too fast and you proved me right. Excellent power and speed towards the end. Good to see the tactics working.

Given how badly you smoked me over in the bkool world, I'm sure you'd do just fine... While I've improved, I doubt it's been significant enough to drastically alter that dynamic.

Probably the biggest thing right now for me is by racing 2-4 times a week with a large pool of riders near my ability I can push harder and also play around a bit with tactics. Both help with motivation.

I figure I'll bury myself this week and rest next week as I'm on the road with the family. I think tomorrow we climb to the tower for the KISS race.

One of the top reasons why Zwift is so attractive, you can find many riders of equal ability to drive you on

Yeah, but you were held back by the Kickr while i had bkool pro power ^_^ We are much more evenly matched now and you have a real competitive spirit too. I checked your times before replying so it really was meant as a compliment.

I will be on RGT or BRVR tonight for an uphill struggle of some kind. May give 3om notice in case anyone tempted to join me.
