Ditto :okay:. Long rides don't seem as daunting^_^
Went though the Esses in Watopia on the first go and was holding on for dear life.

What trainer you have?. That tells a bit how reliable that FTP is. I trust direct drive trainers pretty much, especially Elite Drivo 2 what i have. Power output numbers fit very well with Quarq Riken R powermeter what i have as well.

I've got a Tacx Vortex, so not direct drive. I've read up a bit on them recently and they did a firmware update last year that seems to have made them much more accurate, most people report less than 5% difference from powermeter readings. I've never tested it myself so have no way of knowing for sure what mine is doing  The firmware update had a lot of people complaining as previously it seems the Vortex had been a little generous with its figures, most peoples power seemed to drop about 10% after the update  I keep the firmware on mine up to date so can only assume it's relatively accurate

If I find myself using the turbo a lot I might upgrade to a direct drive unit but I've got other things to spend my money on at the moment

As long as power readings are consistent it really doesn't matter what trainer you are using. My previous trainer Bkool Smart Pro 1 makes me feel sometimes like i am...well at least like a semi pro rider ^_^. Best FTP was almost 300W with Bkool . I felt my legs that those readings was far from the truth. I did sometimes comparison with power meter which confirm my feelings.

I've got a Tacx Flow which is about as basic as it gets for interactive smart trainers. It's not particularly responsive to fast changes in power output, nor does it have great road feel as it has a small flywheel and it's godawful noisy. It does however feel about right in terms of power. I ride outside with a power meter every day, and my "feel" of 300W for example compares well to my "feel" out on the road. Bike's are different (I have an old steel roadie on the trainer - none of my other bikes are not allowed in the house) but the positions are comparable between bikes.

I think where direct drive trainers come into their own is noise level and road feel. Accuracy is a nice to have, but I doubt any of you would change your setups to get a 1% increase in power accuracy.

That said I will be getting a new trainer at some point, if only to keep Mrs C happy - she doesn't like the noise, and I'd really like to be able to use zwift at night when I'm awake but nobody else is.

I'm reading very good things about the Elite Drivo 2, has anyone got first hand experience?

I have Drivo 2. Very impressive trainer, indoor training feels very realistic now and power output accuracy is very good, match perfectly with my Quarq powermeter. Accuracy suppose to be 0,5%, could be. Specs say it can produced power 3600W@60km/h. Sounds bit of overwhelmed trainer for me but good to know that there is lot of capacity for future needs ^_^.

I have just bought the core and used it a few times now , it's easy to build up ,just 2 legs to attach and the cassette to put on , connect to power and do a spin down, it is very quiet and I only hear the noise from the bike, there is an issue at the moment with Zwift and using ios devices where there is no resistance, this does not happen on other training platforms and is being looked into by Zwift

I only had a wheel on trainer before and would recommend the core as very good value

Good work from Carl, well done :becool:. Today i had a problems with Zwift and Drivo 2. Ant+ signal find devices but resistance unit didn't want to work. With Bkool Sim it worked well but with Zwift take's some time when it finally start to react. It was mystery to me what was the issue. I have heard that Drivo trainers have BLE resistance issues, seems like some ANT+ issues might occure as well.
