It wont really be sub2 especially for a wippet like you, more like 2.5. You might prefer this one...honest;)

Andy, its about your pace! You did fine and then in your "race" too! That sub 2 is for newbies, those at the beginning of their cycling training and those on a recovery ride. Breedon may still be on his pro and will be chomping at the bit stuck at less than 140w.

KISS race today was a flat profile, but it's "D" only. I realize a fair number of riders that will be over the W/kg guidelines will ride, and worst case my results won't show up on the websites. That's fine with me. I've got some things I wanted to work on and get in a good workout.

The plan was to be more steady -- folks from the monster thread know I have a tendency to start real hard, then fade badly. Looks like I was 244W, 242W, 242W across the 3 laps today, so the overall goal of a more consistent output was achieved. Before the race I planned a large effort at the end of the first lap and the start of the second lap to jump to a faster group (on the assumption that the original group I was with would likely slow down over time). One sprint to get away, a couple minutes of hard effort, then another short sprint for final capture of the slightly faster group. Second lap was then uneventful. Nearly got dropped on the final lap as I was soft-pedaling a bit and not paying attention, but catching the group again wasn't too tough. Not terribly long later the group split. I let the smaller lead group get away a bit, but apparently not far enough. So when I hit the gas to catch them, all I did was pull the larger group up with me.

I didn't realize until just now that even though there wasn't a "C" category during sign-up, apparently if you've got your name set up correctly, it'll place you with the appropriate group. Ugh. I know for next time.

KISS EUR tomorrow.

Andy is right: cracking power for a lightweight. Out of interest what power meter do you use? I need to get one for real life rides/training off the NEO.

Jeff,
sounds like you had fun and good power. Looking at strava also tells me you consistently faster than me on the flats. I might have to try and draft you sometime:okay:

Just moved from a Kickr to a Neo and power is showing as 30-40 watts lower than before! Any ideas?

It's actually accurate. Unless you were calibrating the Kickr after a 20min warm up and kept that belt tension in tip top condition.

That's a little depressing! I had calibrated recently. Will try my other bike with Stages PM and check difference.

. Accuracy is only important if you switch between trainers and meters and need consistency. Just reset your training zones and continue being awesome.

:reading:

Actually I was intrigued to know if my kickr was putting out the right numbers. This is for when I start TT. So I ran my 'stages' power meter from my Garmin on a test run on Sunday. At first the kickr was saying about 20 watts too high, I then did a spin down test and it was within 10 watts of the stages readings. Who knows which one is actually correct, but they are near the same now. :okay::tongue:

Just jesting with you Andy. And beginning to realise I have a long way to go to recover the power and stamina i had a year ago. Onward and upwards:bicycle:

Bob. Suffice to say, Uclown(Dave) is a cycling monster with over 3500 miles recorded this year . Also a piddly 65,000 miles total mileage:bravo:. I had to put a comma in the number it's that long:laugh:

You have to admire the shear dedication and hard graft to notch that many miles. That's why he has huge power for a lightweight.
