I didn't either! I dug deep and gave what little sprint I had left, which meant that I couldn't focus on the screen until I'd crossed the line. Only then did I find out I'd come sixth!

Almost got dropped when I was trying to reply to your message on lap 2 or 3, but just about got back on with a big effort.

No, that one was okay funnily enough. You did manage to distance me a little (plus I didn't know it was you who caused it until you owned up!), but it turned the lead pack into a long snake of riders so despite being a few seconds down I was still in some sort of draft, meaning I only had to raise my watts a little bit to get back on.

It was a later message, I think about the guy who'd broken away. I spent only a few seconds replying and when I looked up the pack were 2 seconds up the road. Burned a few matches getting back in touch; luckily no-one attacked for a good couple of minutes after that, otherwise I'd have been toast.

Great ride @Whorty you did just enough to hang in ,thought that lone leader was gone but when the gap closed up the climb I shut the gap down ,I was hoping he'd work and we might had stayed away but he gave up , but I burnt too many matches to have any sprint left hope I sort off closed any early sprints for you

Thanks Phil. wasn't sure I had anything left at the end. After the few chases I was pretty shot. The first little digs with a mile to go nearly dropped me and I had to work hard to get back on, but thankfully the final sprint didn't start until 400 mtrs to go - was a case of head down and see what the legs had left. Until I was clear and only the 2 riders ahead I wasn't expecting to podium - I thought I'd be swamped at the final few metres.
No idea of my numbers as couldn't see the screen.
@steverob had a great race too - right in the mix at the end
I enjoyed that, although my HR was over 180 so not sure my doctor would be best pleased

Did you do it solo/ workout or social ride?

The bigger Z2 stuff Ive tended to do on a weekend with mass social events. I think it's SZR that have a rider fence for the first 50km to stop racing, then lift it if you want to push on for the finish. It's only consistency and fitness will return

A bit late to the zone 2 Party but if it’s any good for you time wise I tend to join the Sunday morning Vikings Valhalla ride at 08:05GMT usually around 100km / Just short of 3 hours riding time. It has a good following, lots or regulars and a bit of banter. They do a C group and D group. C’s target 2.5w/kg. D’s I think are around the 2.0w/kg mark. The C’s have the fence on for the full event and if you want to do a harder effort one of the sweepers calls a go-slow every so often and those who join chase back on to the lead group. 3 hours without a break is a touch long for me so I tend to take a coffee stop after 2 hours and finish the event solo.

:okay:
That's the one Al, couldn't remember the name of the organiser. I tend to put on a film for the first couple of hours. I've normally just pushed through to finish with the riders who want go more quickly. I chose D cat, it keeps me in Z2 for the vast majority of the event

Need to get around to another

Nice one Andy. Yeah I need to man-up and stick with it for the full 3 hours - after all you don’t see the pros stop for coffee in their 5+ hour races (although Pogi could probably stop and still win) 😝

Has anyone got to level 100 on Zwift yet? I got to level 94 during the last night's race and got a snazzy hat (which I took a moment to put on during the race of course!) so not too much further to go - although the levels do now seem to take ages to get through so it could still actually take me ages!

Just watched your full video @steverob and other than your momentary lack of concentration both you and @Whorty rode a great race always well positioned .I didn't see you come by me at the finish as you were already alongside me round the last bend , I got out the saddle to sprint and had nothing left .I spent too many matches closing gaps , As a non sprinter on a flat race I was hoping for a mini breakaway . When I caught the lone breakaway rider and went too the front for my 1st pull he shut it down to 1.8w/kg and I knew we were doomed . Not sure what he was thinking he finished over 3 mins down so he completely blew up . The SZR rider was a fellow lightweight when he had a couple of digs I followed but we never got any gap as by then the group was looking for the sprint finish ,
