I was reviewing my Garmin's sleep data. I spotted the interruption to my sleep score the evening/night the days I did ZRL.

This is why I prefer to ride in the morning, to allow enough time to enter recovery from exercising

This is my body battery graph from yesterday (raced Loop, Loop) at 9am

Busy throughout the day, started to recover early evening

I will rarely do an evening race now. It suits me so much better to race or ride mornings. I know most people don't have the choice though.

He's coming back from illness. He's really VERY VERY good. In a month he'll be kicking all our arses

I assumed his messing with Sauce made him miss the start ... either way, seeing the group just ahead, almost within reach, and burning every match to try to latch on ... the worst part of Zwift racing  .... been there so many times, using every last bit of energy until reality kicks in :surrender:
Now I'm back in C cat, this will be my next few months of racing until my fitness is back to 100%

The messing with Sauce won't have helped either. Another couple of weeks and he'll be beating us all again though.

Don’t know if anyone has seen the e-mail from WTRL yet but they are having a vote on what courses you want for the ZRL Season Finale. There’s three races - Scratch, TTT and Points (in that order) and a choice of six courses for each.

1. Semi-Final 1 - SCRATCH RACE
Rolling Highlands
Tour Of Tewit Well
London Loop Reverse
Suki's Playground
Ocean Lava Cliffside Loop
Innsbruckring

2. Semi-Final 2: TEAM TIME TRIAL
Roule Ma Poule
Greatest London Flat
Watopia's Waistband
Triple Flat Loops
Route à Grande Vitesse (R.G.V.)
Out And Back Again

3. THE FINAL: POINTS RACE
Makuri 40
Temples and Towers
Glasgow Crit Circuit
The Muckle Yin
Island Hopper
Chasing the Sun

As I’m eligible to vote but not to take part, should I be mean and pick the worst courses or kind and choose the ones I’d have liked to have done myself?

I had a old Tenerife buddy, who did a couple of the Huate route events. He said it was the hardest thing he'd ever done. Getting up at 3-4am to eat a huge breakfast to fuel his start of each day was so difficult for him.

He was built like a twig and could climb hills like nobody I've seen before. I remember seeing him pass me going up Ventoux in the big chain ring

He did start an hour after me that morning, knocked off the Cingle by early afternoon

Why were you using the big ring? (Showoff)

Not sure if we'll be doing it. Another Tour de Splitters would be nicer :becool:

I did the 'Loop de Loop' sprint stage on Friday. Kind of went with it because it was a new route - and it did look interesting. I have to say, I loved the course - as others have said - very little room to mess about, twice through the rollers on the start, beach, KOM, a short descent and back at it again. It was a huge bunch sprint at the end and I managed to steal 6th place, but it was 20 people within 1s at the line.

i raced this in C today. My 1st C race since being upgraded. I was in the lead group to the Esses and into the sprint and all the way to the KoM, but was suffering and hanging on. With the little KoM I was always going to struggle. Got dropped on the KoM and drifted through the pack, picking up a nice group that was at my level. Averaged 2.8 w/kg for 20 mins is where I am at the moment but given I'm only recently back on the bike I can live with that. My recovery in the ride was pretty good, and I even had a little sprint at the end and won my own battle against the other 3 in the group.

Need to pick flatter races I think

The flat ones…

I also did Zwift Loop de loop stage 1 today ( 18:00) race cat C . Not raced for 5 months and not FTP tested either. Not lost hardly any weight since last race which had been my intention, due to holidays, illness and other crap getting in the way. So figured on my old ftp of 2.8 watts and not raced for a while I would be lucky to stay on the coat tails of a last group.
I was sensible and did not push ultra hard at the beginning but then panicked a bit as I seemed to be right at the back of the last blob I could see on the map. On the ticker I was 175th ish of of 350 odd but I thought that was out of all Cats. I could see 2 riders 8 seconds behind on the list but I assumed they were last of the Cat C's.
So I had to try really hard to stay with my 10 man blob .
When I went onto zwift power I found I was 124 th out of 228 cat C, this was suprising as I could see no blobs at all behind me on the dam map when racing. Also I seem to have gained some power over the last 5 months, 20 watts on my ftp just by dicking about getting route badges and achievement badges and doing climbs.
The only other notable I was the second shortest bloke in the race, the shortest being a junior. Pity I wasn't the second lightest I might have won the dam race.

I did stage 1 of the Zwift games last night and blimey did it show how the new cat system has affected cat B! The pace was insane from the start - more like those races you do with all cats starting together and the Cat A's go off super fast. Well there's a reason it felt like that, which is the sheer number of riders who would previously have been upgraded to A who are now still Cat B. I can see some guys towards the front who were recently racing ZRL in Cat A and doing well.

I don't know if this is what Zwift intended or not, but I guess it's the new reality! I thought I rode pretty well and pretty hard and came 115th out of 225. LOADS of riders in the top 100 averaged 4w/kg or higher.

Still a fun race though and I settled into a group that was my pace eventually and actually did a good sprint for a change - unfortunately the evidence of that is lost because I accidentally deleted the recording of the race before uploading it so you'll just have to take my word for it ^_^
