So I did the Stratford CC Hill Climb today, on Saintbury Hill - maybe @Norry1 has experience of this beast? It goes on for 1.3 miles, and pitches up to 18% but has some much shallower sections in the middle. Matt lent me his 5.5kg hill-climbing machine, which is simply awesome to ride. I was off at no. 10, but my minute-man didn’t start so I didn’t really have anyone to chase down. I think I went out a bit hard, averaging 387W for the first five minutes and fading toward the top, but it was still seriously good Type 2 fun.

I stopped the clock at 7:26.0, good enough for 14th out of 31 starters. Matt clocked 6:46 for 4th place - one of the guys who beat him was reigning National Champion Andrew Feather in a scarcely believable 5:28.

Good work and result :okay:

I have ridden around that neck of the woods a fair few times and ridden Saintbury as well as Dover's Hill which is virtually next to it.

I have ridden down it more often though and on one occasion my Brother was flying down it in wet and dodgy conditions and lost it on one of the bends - ending up binning the bike at pace!

Dover’s hill is “affectionately” known as “Bastard Hill” in our club

We rode up Dover's on our cool-down ride so that Matt could get it ticked off on his 100 Climbs app!

After a slow Zwift event period, busy and family all coming down with bugs. I entered the fourth round of Race Watopia on the Volcano circuit. Not up the corkscrew the flatter course.

Small event with 28 riders. Quickly established a group of 19 which whittled to 13th. I was nearly on the penultimate lap dropped when several leaders dropped the burrito 🌯 on the descent gapping me and a few others. I didn't have the punch to rejoin. Fortunately others created a chain for me to draft back on. Final lap pace increased up the penultimate ramp, held it but was distanced, closed my eyes pedalled for what felt an age and sneaked a few places before the line 10th Zwift 6th ZP.

You boys should try the FRR Tour. We're doing 'La Reine' today. Good news is: it finishes at the Chalet Reynard banner. Bad news: It finishes at Chalet Reynard in the other direction (i.e. you need to climb to the top of Ventoux and then go back down). Tomorrow is even more fun - the 'Five Horsemen' - the usual 'Four Horseman' route but then you repeat the Zwift KOM for an uphill finish. Highly recommend.

Can I start at the top Ventoux?
