Similar tactics to you Steve, stay with the front pack for long as possible. Got dropped twice , got back on with the help of you and Steen. Eventually elastic snapped. Surprised to catch Alan (must having bad day). Then just held threshold to finish

That was hard ,legs were in bits before the start due to the earlier effort .First attack and I'm dropped and watch everyone ride away into the distance . Was going to quit at the top of Titans but I'd closed down to @Brusgaard and he was only 30s up the road bit by bit I closed in mainly on the up of the rollers caught him just before the desert I settled in to ride together but to his credit he told me to push on which I did for a short while until he closed the gap on the flats and we rode in together where he went super early in the sprint and I was cooked

Turned inside out anyway @JuhaL !

That was fun, Tim breaking away on the hill after Alan tested everyone legs, then @Peter Salt and @Whorty pleading for a steady pace - I thought he was too far away but the descent meant we could supertuck away a lot of the deficit then it was burst and sprint whilst watching @CXRAndy slowly bring down the distance.

I want my Mommy :surrender:

Alex caught me on the descent from Titans, then got away from me with Alan as we left the underwater tunnel, but I managed to catch back up to them with 2km to go - not quite sure how, as I wasn't trying to; was just keeping a steady pace through the desert.

We started out TTTing beautifully and taking turns, then that broke down when one of us - I'm not gonna say who it was but it wasn't me - started playing silly buggers cat and mouse "I'm not gonna let YOU draft me. YOU go in front!"
It was rather good fun though, I could see you catching but then you became a threat because you have a finishing sprint so I had to hit it hard at 1km to go with all I had to stay ahead. I think I got that bit on video.

You noticed how close I was getting before *I* did! I was just keeping a steady tempo in the desert with you guys 30 seconds ahead then suddenly saw your power numbers light up in orange and wondered what was going on. Then I realised I had somehow closed to only 8 seconds back (although that then became 15 again after your sprint).

When I caught up the second time and Alan went off the front I waited until 1 mile to go before putting in a dig to start to close him down, knowing full well that you'd jump on my wheel and launch an attack as I reached him, but I figured I had nothing to lose. I think you overestimate my sprinting powers frankly - anything above 5 w/kg was enough to easily keep me at bay!

When you jumped ahead of me and Steen I was very tempted to follow, but then I considered that the catch would probably be just as the road started going upwards towards Titans where I would get dropped regardless, so I left you to it!

I’m pretty sure @Peter Salt crossed the line in front of me, unless that’s an artefact of the client-side position rendering. If Pete thinks my avatar crossed the line in front, I’ll accept second place, though!

Great race, guys! Sorry to burn you off before the finale, @Whorty - that was the only way I wasn’t going to end up being fourth!

Great to see @mjd1988 ’s power finish at (moderately) close quarters 💪💪

Thanks to @steverob for organising 🙏

Looking at the power figures the pack leaned on Tim for leading most of the way

I must have accidentally sat on his wheel

We spotted Alex's little spurt too as you closed in ... made us chuckle ... right up until Tim gave his dig and dropped me (there was a lot of swearing at that point, and not from me for a change

That was part 1. I put in a dig to shake him off which worked for a while but then he came back and refused to give me a wheel.
So I laughed, started filming and decided to play the game.

Would have been rude not to. Actually earlier on when we were riding together I was trying to take turns, but you kept riding through me. I guess you were riding a steady pace, but if you don't back off a bit you never get the benefit of any draft.

I think raw watts matters more on the flat and you have lots of those. The reason I made a bolt for it out of the tunnel was because it's a hill and I have an advantage there.

Like Phil, I almost quit at about 5k when Peter started willy-waving on his second dig. (Sod that!) But the gap opened up and then became a challenge. I'll see if I can catch Steen and Steve by the top of Titans. Didn't quite get to you until the descent though.

But catching people and then playing cat and mouse with Alan turned it into a fun race.

Absolutely the right thing to do ... I'd have done the same if I could
