Admittedly specs are different now and the current ones have electronic gears and include power meters across the range, but even if you drop down to the lower level carbon frame, the equivalent spec level to my bike is £1,600/53% more than mine cost.

I know it's shocking. Bought my Roubaix Sport discounted in 2019 for around £1300. Don't think I'd get a like-for-like replacement for £2.5k now. Should last me a while yet. Only done 18k miles on it

Just speaking for myself, I'd say the main benefit is I find it really comfortable, quiet and smooth to ride (I had a bike on a Tacx Neo before). I know some people like a fair bit of side to side movement - you get none of that with the Neo bike, it's really solid and stable, but I really like that personally.

I like how much adjustability there is - I started off copying my road bike measurements because I'm really comfortable on that on the road, but I've adjusted it a bit since as I find a slightly different position more comfortable for indoor riding.

The virtual gear changes are fantastic - instant and no fear of dropping your chain etc even if changing under great stress.

Having the smart bike has made the whole zwifting experience much more enjoyable for me and I'm so glad I got one. Reading some reviews they're not for everyone though clearly and some of the things I like about them others dislike so there's an element of personal preference too.

Love my neo, with NHS discount from tredz it was basically half the price they are quoting for the update, which seems to be more gearing choices and worse power data. It's a big outlay but when you spend several hours a week and *fingers crossed* it will last a while it's not that mad. Like most I went from dumb trainer to smart wheel on, then figured I'd jump a stage, but direct drive seems to deliveelr many of the benefits ...but I've had had to buy a dedicated bike for it as my old one had completely broken down (and broken my feet down)

Yes, last lap fastest cause of the sprint, first lap second fastest due to the blast out of the pens, rest of them in decending order (2nd, 3rd, etc.)

In the end the first and last laps weren't the quickest weirdly. A guy went off on Lap 2 and set an ok time on the sprint which in turn caused a split in the pack. Made the decision to join him leaving a group of 3 up front and 6 behind. Could see the 6 behind splitting further or just riding slower so took the opportunity on lap 4 to give it the beans and set my own time, giving myself 4 laps to recover. Thankfully it worked and I managed to take the prime and outsprint the other 2 riders for the win.

Gives me enough points now to win the RWB Jersey (I think @IrishAl has one as well?) - It's been a decent series. A few battles and like always very well run.

Good quality jerseys, well done on the win!

They are the best fun and a great VO2 workout. Have a blast :okay:

Yesterday I ride Makuri 40 route which was Tour of Makuri Stage 5. For me that was VO2 workout. Connect Garmin gives 4,8 aerobic points and 2,9 anaerobic points. Quite effective training session.

I entered the Tiny Race series with a fair bit trepidation  Not really knowing whether I could cope with the very intense short races.

Race 1
Flat apart from a 1.40 climb- I've done it before Fine and Sandy course, so knew what to expect. I put in my best effort to stay with the leaders, knowing it would come down to a sprint, if I could stay with them. I came 8th race 1 ^_^

Race 2,
I hadn't recovered when It started, forgot to start recording but managed it after a few seconds. This time twice up the climb of race 1, struggled to hang onto pack up climb 1, lost them in the dust and had to sprint back on the back once the dust had settled. got dropped up the climb 2 to finish. some where in the 30s finishing position.

Race 3
Now I felt terrible, almost sick. Just sat there slowly turning legs. Could hardly muster a sprint to start the race. Thankfully totally flat and pace not crazy fast- I suspect everyone was feeling the earlier efforts. Regained my composure and sprinted for 10th place.

Race 4
The big climb in relative terms. I knew I was going to get dropped, but wanted to be in the lead bunch starting the climb and then see who to battle with for the finish. 5 of us grouped up to race for high 30s position. Nice finish with a -5% descent into the sprint, so I went early dropped my feather PU  and went for it 38th

It’s all about hanging on. I’ve only done all four twice. It is a big effort. It’s helped even with longer races though. I survived 3 laps of horrorgate yesterday morning.

They're great aren't they ... race 1 starts and you feel good, hang on and blast the sprint. By race three the legs don't work. Then you sit on the start line of race 4, stars floating around the eyes, lungs still busting, barely turning the pedals in the pen.

Thankfully everyone is feeling exactly the same  A really really fun little serious and I defy anyone to not enjoy the suffering. Doing these 4 races is so different to a longer steady race with a sprint at the end.

I felt really unwell, for start of race 3, but thankfully it went away. It is amazing how you can go really deep, thinking that's it' I'm done, then do it again a few minutes later.

Did enjoy them once I recovered. :okay:

Will do more:hyper:
