@Norry1 I just read that Prof Louis Passfield has died - I think you mentioned on your blog that you were in contact with him just a few days ago? Very sad news:sad:

I've just looked online and yes it is him. I mean I only conversed with him via a few comments on his YouTube Channel but what a shock. Anyone know what cause of death was?

This is the current (1st November 2022) Cat Enforcement thresholds from here

Note the quoted W/kg are CP, not FTP.

Here are the most current (as of today) values for open (men’s & women’s) categories:
  • A: 4.2 w/kg & 250W, 5.4 w/kg MAP (65 VO2)
  • B: 3.36 w/kg & 200W, 4.2 w/kg MAP (55 VO2)
  • C: 2.625 w/kg & 150W, 3.3 w/kg MAP (45 VO2)
  • D: Anything below C limits
And here are the most current (as of today) values for women’s specific categories:
  • A: 3.885 w/kg, 5.0 w/kg MAP
  • B: 3.36 w/kg, 4.2 w/kg MAP
  • C: 2.625 w/kg, 3.5 w/kg MAP
  • D: Anything below C limits
Note that for women’s specific categories, women do not have an absolute wattage value associated with their critical power (as is the case on ZwiftPower), and there is also no VO2 ml value.

Guys we’re going to try to start a TTT team on Thursdays. I think the more the merrier really. We can give people different roles in the team and I think we’ll most likely struggle to get 8 every race so really it’s a great work out and a laugh more than trying to set the world on fire.

I think so far we have

Rich
Alan
Bob
Bridgy
Myself
Lee

But I’m sure other people will drop in and out as they can.

It’s one of those things where we might only end up with 4 or 5 some weeks. But it’s worth doing it even if you’re not going to worry the fastest teams. Because the payoff workout wise is so big and it’s good fun.

I'm in mate 👍 I can do 300 watts for 20 mins so if you are short I'll happily bust my balls for you - and it will be nice to ride with you all again. With any luck following you animals might get me my C upgrade ^_^

Racing La Reine tomorrow.
Flat lead-in with Petit KoM as FTS segment.
Mulling over the idea of starting with a Tron and changing after Petit KoM to something climbier. Anyone got any thoughts on that?
6.5 minute effort ~25kmh at 4% will there be an aero advantage or would it be better to go climbing bike from the start?
