Something else I do is to have all rides set as private by default on Strava. I don't usually change virtual rides/workouts or commutes, but for outdoor rides or the ZRL races I change the privacy setting to "followers only". Hopefully I have not accept a follow request from a bike thief, on the odd chance that I reveal my bike's location on an uploaded ride!

That's fine if you aren't bothered about playing the segment game (great big weeing contest, but can be quite fun sometimes). Unless I've misunderstood how it works, if you want to compete for a segment on a real ride, that ride won't show up in leaderboards unless it's public.

Yeah, I've used privacy zones around my house before (and some other locations) but this new feature takes effect on ALL rides, no matter where you start them from. As I said, it might be that they've fixed the problem that it triggers on Zwift rides as well, but I thought it best to bring it to people's attention just in case.

It is odd that Strava can tell virtual rides apart from outdoor rides most of the time, but it looks like one of those things where some bits of the program don't work the way others do. For example, there's been a support request out there for ages to allow you to have a different default bike for virtual and outdoor rides, but apparently they've said that's not possible either - you can only have one set for both types of activity and there's no plans to fix this.

Yeah thanks very much for highlighting the issue Steve - it's just a very odd problem that seems of Strava's own creation doesn't it? (Considering they could previously distinguish between rides satarting at different locations, and clearly can automatically detect the difference between a real and virtual ride too). Seems more like something they can't be bothered to sort out rather than being unable to.

That's a good point about not being able to have a different default bike for real or virtual rides - an annoying (lack of) feature that is surely relatively easy to implement.

While we're Strava bashing, I'll add not being able to see leaderboards for clubs & people you follow for virtual rides on the phone app, despite being able to do it for real rides, and being able to do it on a PC

Anyone who's taking part in "Get Rolling" there is a GC which can be filtered by team on ZP

They don't update it very often, sadly, but it's there. I think Carl must have bribed the commissaires though, as he got silver in his race, not gold

How strange .... I definitely crossed the line before the guy that ZP (and the Zwift App) gave as a faster time. So definitely showing as silver on ZP .. then shows gold here. Maybe they realised I really won and have updated accordinngly.

I'll await the gold medal in the post before I send back the silver one

In the Cat B Splitters Team we have me, @Rich A , @mjd1988 , @Girafitti , @IrishAl , and @BurningLegs going for glory!

How's your competition looking? Our league is loaded with top C racers so gonna be hard this season to win much, but I think the chaps expected this after their glorious promotion last season.

Hopefully I'll get some fitness back with these races and may even lose the 4kg I seem to have found over the summer 🍔🍟🍩🍰🧁
