I've been reflecting on how we were really well-drilled last night. With two extra bods to up the draft in the blob, even if they hadn't contributed much to the pacemaking, I'm sure we'd have been clocking a mid 42. Supreme efforts all round, though - some excellent suffering noises coming from @straas and @bobinski ! :okay:

Looking at my Strava data, I averaged 220W for 2minutes when Pro Vision came past as I got caught up in their draft because they suddenly slowed down... Don't really know what happened there...

I am pretty sure we would have broken 43 min with 1 let alone 2 more riders. You were doing huge 4.7-5w/kg pulls at the front which we tried to match when it was our turn but it wasn’t easy mainly because too little time to recover. Contrary to others experience our drafting was not affected and was nigh on perfect and our result shows the value of working as a team.

Turns out that every pedal stroke DOES count and that when your road captain (@Whorty) tells you to finish with a sprint, you should definitely heed his advice.

CCC Team ended up finishing 10th out of 13 teams (14th team got DQ'd as they only finished with 3 riders).
12th place were 3.165 seconds behind us.
11th place were 0.378 seconds behind us!

The TTT for Team #23 last night was a tough one all round. We started off well, but @BurningLegs was the first to get dropped on the big hill - yes Nick got dropped on a HILL - he wasn't kidding about losing quite a lot of form from being off the bike for a few weeks with illness etc!! Still made some good hard efforts for us before then so thanks Nick and hope you can gradually build back to full fitness.

I think the hill took quite a lot out of @Alongo too but he held on for another 5km or so, did one big last turn and then had to drop off too, leaving just me, @<Tommy> @peterob , and hero of the night @Norry1 who joined us at the very last minute to give us a full team of 6 - good job he did as we were now down to four with still about half the race to go!

Martin was pretty cooked by now (he'd probably like me to point out he had done an IRL race the night before :okay:), so wasn't really able to do any turns. Pete started to suffer too, so Tommy and I had to do most of the work for the last third of the race. We passed one team, but got passed by two so I had a feeling it wasn't going to be a our best result, but that wasn't for lack of effort by everyone.

Final result was we came 11th/14 with a time of 42:29, but remain in 6th in the league overall just 1 point ahead of Del's WTRL team with just the last race to go....

Can we have first dibs on @Norry1 for next week, pretty please w/ cherry? We're 7th/15, fighting a rearguard action against Cryo-Gen, and have a possible sixth-place finish in our sights if we can overhaul Farnborough & Camberley CC!

That's 100% Martin's decision - I think the earlier timeslot sometimes suits him a little better if he can make it, but no harm in asking him

Yeah agreed - 100% Martin’s decision. Hopefully he doesn’t let the fact we’re only one single point ahead of @del C’s team going into the final race cloud his judgment at all. Who cares if we finish above them or behind them right? As one of the founding members of team #CC23, I’m sure he’s capable of deciding on his own if he wants to ride with us his brothers, or another team he’s ridden for a couple of times in the past 👍. None of us will put any pressure on him that’s for sure! 😄

On a separate note well done everyone last night 👍👍. Sounds like varying degrees of success but everyone had a story to tell at the end of the night!

I know why it hurt so much:

Dropped after 13 minutes with an avg of 193BPM for 13 mins. Max HR of 208, and avg of 200 on the climb :crazy:

Martin, you'll find a warmer, friendlier embrace from #68-and absolutely no pressure at all ^_^ One for all and all for one in #68👍

I'd like to submit my own appeal for @Norry1 on behalf of #23:

We're 6th/14, fighting a rearguard action against our very own @Del C's WTRL, and have a possible fifth-place finish in our sights if we can overhal ENGarde! ^_^
