Not the best ! I hate the fens
Its so hard to keep pedalling on the flat, just feels like you're always going slowly and then there's the headwinds.....

Love the Isle of Wight ride ... be great if we could do something similar again next yearMost definitely mate. Before this covid palaver we were arranging meet ups at least once a year. In fact it was probably more like 3. Could you and Ketty get down to Cambridge we normally do the tour of Cambridge. Although to be honest it isn’t the best. It’d be just as easy to organise our own meet up though.

We should have a poll to decide best place to meet... 🤔
That really pissed me off last year (or rather, the last time it ran). Every year previously there'd been loads of water and food available at every pit-stop, even for someone like me who turned up at each stop quite late, so I figured that I'd not bother taking my largest water bottles, thinking it would be easier just to fill them up at the rest stops. After all, I wasn't going for a fast time, so was happy to use every stop off opportunity whereas most riders probably just stop off at one or two. And then that's the year they decide to cock up the supplies and leave everyone screwed over, plus it was on one of the hottest days of the year as well. The course is OK with a pack ride. Its the catastrophically organised feed stops.
I did the ToC “mellow vello” 56 mile ride. I watched the other Cyclechat dudes ride off on the 100 mile route and they still finished before me.That really pissed me off last year (or rather, the last time it ran). If I do ever do ToC again, I'm tempted to enter the full route (assuming it's remaining at 100 miles), but then not do the loop of the flattest bit - cutting the corner at Pondersbridge. It's the dullest bit of the course and always has at least one section of hideous headwinds and I wouldn't really miss it. Without that loop, but including all the other pre-Fens sections (which some of the "official" shorter routes skip parts of), I estimate it would be 75-80 miles total, which is still worth doing.
Officially I'm down to do the Etape Loch Ness in 2021, but I can't see that going ahead - April is just too early for everything to be back to normal. Maybe if they choose to move it to September/October that might be more realistic. It'll be a shame if I don't make it, because my plans have me going up to Inverness on the sleeper train a few days before and staying there almost a week so that I can do more riding than just the event itself - looks like there's some really good choices of routes up that way.I'll very much doubt doing the TOC. I was hoping for the TDY, but its cancelled again next year. I'll see if I can get enough fitness for a solo mini tour. Assuming there are any Hotels/BB open to stop at
I got stung at the food stop for the 2nd loop. Almost no water and no food, not even gels. I plodded on but eventually stopped at 93 miles. Just couldn't go on.That really pissed me off last year (or rather, the last time it ran).
