It's finally caught up with me! I knew within the first few miles that this would be my last ride in D as a B & C took off at the front up the climbs. I could have let them go but I didn't want to hold back and stay in D for the sake of it.
Got dropped after the 1st KOM and rode the rest of the race at an easy pace on my own but the damage had been done. ON the plus side there is lots more to give and I got a new FTP of 268.
So, sorry C's, you got me for the next few months!
It hasn't been a bad run - 24 podiums including 15 wins - now I start again. Quite a good time to do it actually with the autumn coming in. I might be able to come out of winter with a few decent C finishes.
I'd have come 42nd out of 54 tonight in C so hopefully I won't be starting totally at the back!
Anyway, that's my sob story... how did everyone else get on?
Saw your message Michael and thought I wouldn’t mind it happening to me at that moment 😀 .It was a pretty quick start and I was just trying to hang on to the front group till the crest of the long drag, where I thought it may ease off a bit . Managed to hang on to front group for half a lap then settled in with a group of about ten till about 3 k to go, two other riders caught me and we ”sprinted ” for the line where I was second out of the three of us . Some really strong riders In that race tonight and it’s a really demanding course. Good ride too @Brusgaard and @Joffey .Power cut out near the top of the first incline. Annoyed. First time I've paired fenix rather than chest HRM so may be related to that.
5 a and a+ sandbaggers on that course will mean a fair bit of misery.
Might see if I can ride the league tomorrow.
Well I won... But the 🏆 gravy train has come to an abrupt stop.

EDIT - ended up coming 2nd - turns out it's not the order you arrive at the KOM / Sprint, it's how fast your time is. Slightly odd as I lead JB the whole way round from start to finish beating him by nearly 3 mins yet he got the win cos his sprint was quicker than mine???

Lost 5 points/places within the last 200m after being chased down by a group the last 4 km or so. Had a few dropouts during the race, which didn’t help.

Congrats! You'll enjoy being in C with the team there at the minute. It's good for race craft to go between top of cat and bottom of cat as well (or so I tell myself!)
That sprint system is bananas. If I'd realised that and was feeling spiteful I could have just went for the sprints and pootled round the rest of the course at 100watts and hopefully picked up some points there
Well done Joffey and that’s a good ftp you have now.Well I won... But the 🏆 gravy train has come to an abrupt stop.
