Looks like there are c.30 riders registered in C on ZP for the steerer race at 4:00 today, so add in none ZP riders and the race could be a really busy one. Will test steering skills to the max  A few B sandbaggers too which is a shame as they might get more kudos riding in B with Eric Schlange (Zwift Insider). Must try to remember to record the ride :okay:

Edit: just spotted it's an anti-sandbagging race too - even more fun ^_^

Well that was a lot of fun :hyper: Currently in top slot for C (both on ZP and on the road  ) but waiting for final results as I may be pushed into B

The race started with all cats present which is unusual for a Crit. I burst out the blocks and tried to get on to the B train. didn't quite make it across the void to the main group but did pick up some other Bs and rode with various Bs. I don't think any other Cs came with me. Had whole times on the race where it felt like I was on my own but will have to look at the recording to see if that was actually the case.

The steering ... well ... that was really fun. Cutting through corners, trying to get into drafts, trying to drop riders etc adds an extra dimension to the racing. Kind of came natural quite quickly.

I was on my own as a C right until the final climb when a group with a couple of Cs caught me ... I thought this was me done but my steering skills were better than the others as I managed to cut through the corners to gain precious metres and pipped them on the line :wahhey:

I'll post the video when it's processed if anyone is interested.

Were you also in the 2.5 - 3.0 ride? I was dropped twice - first time because I was watching TV and not paying attention. Second time I hit the 90 minutes I wanted to do (and my show finished) so hopped off 🙂

Link to the Steering Crit race ....

That looks quite good. I jumped through it but you could certainly see where the shortest route gained time and also when you were blocked from moving by riders to the side of you.

That will have the non-steerers shouting foul at the short cutters and the steerers shouting foul at the non-steerers for blocking them in

Is it easier to draft whilst 'steering' ?
I'd say it's slightly more difficult in that it's easy to oversteer and lose the draft, and you can't just ghost into the middle of a blob. But the benefits are you can cut corners and avoid sticky draft (didn't get caught once in the race!). Overall I love the steering .... but this is on one race so this may change if I lose the next race

Sorry, I wasn’t using companion app - had Zwift running on my iPhone and Disney+ on the TV in front of me. When I’m racing I have Zwift on the TV and companion app open on the phone 🙂

I’m trying to envisage which Disney classic you were singing along to as you were peddling. Are you more of a frozen or a little mermaid kind of guy?

Awful crash at Lombardia
Saw the incident where Ackerman was taken out by a woman driving on the course , then later saw Remcos crash over the bridge , both wtf moments ! Seems like cycling is having a spate of bad luck ; last week Jacobsen , week before Moolman Pasio both involved in serious accidents . Really hope they all fully recover and hope Remcos meteoric start to his career isn’t over .

Awful crash at Lombardia
Holey WTF  that looked xx(. The crash, repeatedly replayed by RAI, looked like a film that you really don't want to see. The result of the crash and fall of 5m seems to be a bruised lung and fractured pelvis. A very lucky outcome considering the location where he went off.

All the best to Remco and hoping for a full and quick recovery, both physically and mentally.
