I'm sure one thibg we can all agree that I was going to win until I had to bail.

Although given that I did, I technically came last so should start first in the TT :cuppa:
You say that, but I had you in my sights .... I was definitely ready to reel you back in

Not sure I can make next week yet (we have a new carer starting and will depend how that goes) but forgot about the TT timings when I was in the race. Not that it made any difference - I gave it my all, and gave my last big push, to try and get Pete and me across to the 2 army guys. Didn't have the legs though to bridge across to Del and Brendan - maybe with fresher legs I'd have had a better chance, but still don't think I'd have made it :surrender:

I've put myself down as 50/50 as I'm on call. So I actually might be able to start and then leave early again!

For those who care, or are interested, my thoughts on FulGaz (these are my views, others may see it differently!)

Pros
  • Lots of video rides from all over the world. Including some nice UK routes.
  • Mix of flat and hills (unlike BRVR which was, and I assume still is, mostly hills)
  • You can import .ZWO workouts and do these whilst 'ridding' the video
  • You can change ascent and descent trainer difficulty (I had ascent at 100% and descent at 0% - so going down 15% inclines were simulated as flat sections which was nice)
  • 30 day free trial
Cons
  • Very limited workouts included (I like workouts so would need to import lots of my Zwift workouts)
  • Some of the videos are clunky. Biggest bug bare for me is when the riders who filmed the ride slow down, so did I virtually! Vey annoying.
  • Limited information on the screen compared to Bkool/BRVR (I really like on BRVR that you have a map of the ride on screen)
  • The 'leagues' are run separately and cost extra - there was a virtual race across america recently that I think was an extra $500 to join
  • Videos not as slick as BRVR, and no better than Bkool
  • Not great on Windows with Ant+ - resistance all over the place Had to use a bluetooth dongle instead for smoother riding
  • On hills, if you slow the cadence down the resistance seems to get less - not sure if this is to stop the spiral of resistance, but as a grinder this is annoying
Conclusion
  • Has some good points but for me is no better than Bkool, where you at least have the option to race and ride 3D too
  • BRVR has much more superior videos
  • Workouts are an afterthought - not tried SF yet but I assume SF is going to be better
  • Extra costs for leagues/challenges seems a nasty sting
Once the free trial runs out I'll not be using it further. I have extended Zwift for now but will be trying SF on their free offering to see how that goes. I may give BRVR another go - not sure yet.

Def worth a go though to spice up the riding, if only for a few weeks- (it did help me to ride more with a bit more interest compared to just cartoon world of Zwift. Got me a bit of mojo back so I suppose it did work for me :okay:

Bleedin' Hydraulic Brakes!!!

That's all really! Whose idea was it to fit three of the bleedin' things to the tandem??

Don’t get me started... disc brakes definitely divide opinion don’t they? Looks like they’re here to stay though!

edit: I see a lot of the high end bikes that they usually use in the pro races are now being produced disc only. The new s works tarmac comes to mind. I wonder if that means they’ve worked out how to do quick wheel changes on thru axle bikes?

Sorry Tomy, but you're confusing bragging with needle. Like I said to Bob, pointing out that as A's you beat low Bs and Cs isn't needle - I wouldn't even contemplate bragging to a D rider that I beat them. If anything I'd be trying to encourage them and maybe even help them. but hey, that's me and we're all different I guess.

I enjoyed Tuesday - the roll out was fun and the race was hard and good exercise, but if it all just turns out to be a case of the ZSUN riders getting one over on those of us who are still CC riders then that will be me out. Hopefully it's not and was, as you say, just misjudged needle.

I see apparent differences have been settled 👌
For the record I blame Al 😁 didn’t he message at the start to say he thought Zsun were going to do you all over? 🤓

"Can we give a public thank you to James Hodges and Glen Knight for the amazing work they have done in conceiving, building and running Zwiftpower? Zwift has now taken over the running of it (evidenced by multiple posts) and I, for one, am very concerned that we won’t get the same bugs-ironed-out-within-seconds service we got from these two.

This community developed resource has been the backbone of Zwift racing and I don’t think these boys have got enough thanks - or appreciation - for what they have done."

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO James Hodges & Glen Knight for all their hard work over the years from Steven Milliken and I (Martin Carew) here at WTRL. Youve added a whole new dimension to what we've been able to achieve here at WTRL but also right through the eRacing community!

Oh dear

Really hoping this means they start to take racing (and the cats) seriously. Maybe if they stop publishing the results after the race and refer racers to ZP then we'll start to see a real progression of racing on Zwift :okay:

Or I'm just full of carp and wishful thinking
