Stonking effort:okay:.

or has he eaten something doesn't agree?:hungry:
...or possibly eaten too much or too close of ride. Maybe he came sick....who knows. Anyway there's no reason to give all you got, unless if you ride bike for living...maybe not then either.

He fancied an all out effort on the sprint, he's 21. He was chuffed with the green jersey. Nothing wrong with having a go at it. He was steady for the rest of the ride, well apart from the bit after the sprint.

He hadn't eaten anything before the ride, just had the drink while on the bike. Yeah not the best prep, but like I said he is 21 and they all know everything at that age.

Green face to go with his green jersey xx(

We've all done it ... well, all gone too hard to a vom level, I've rarely won a green jersey

Did the Stage 1 etape du tour , 12 o’clock ride , there was around 6000 riders . Went up the KOM pretty quick and legs were a bit empty for Radio Tower so eased up a bit on that, managed to get in a good group after descent and finished in 52:43 .
Ive just swapped bikes over on the trainer and got a bit of a twinge in my knee on past two rides , so something not quite right with setup , will give it a check and put the same Arione saddle on that was on previous bike.
Will be interesting to see the Pros do this , Ed Laverack streamed his ride on Youtube this morning and he did it in about 42 mins .

I'd never done the full course before only been as high as the Epic KOM..... Crikey to climb to the tower was tough.

Only difference I could see was advertising hoardings and a few yellow gazebos dotted about...

Start seemed pretty chaotic thought Zwift was going to crash although it dumped me way down the field, but it settled down after about a kilometer and was a nice ride.

EDIT : Quite a few friends experienced issues with it crashing !

Managed quite a few PB's on the way up inc. Epic KOM so happy with that and also lost a kilo in weight... 😥 👍

Here's a few pics from the ride...

The second climb up to the tower was horrific couldn’t find any rhythm at all. Just yellow tents etc and there was a lot of riders! Looking forward to next week 👍🏻

Having already got the Mountain Route badge and hearing that the scenery hasn't been changed all that much, I'm not too fussed if I miss the first stage of the Etape - will just wait to ride the new courses. Having said that, if I've got an hour and a half free on Sunday and don't fancy an outdoor ride (did 50km today in the wind and the drizzle), I might just hop on anyway - we'll see.

What’s your trainer? There was someone saying they swapped out a rim to disc brake bike with thru axles on a Kickr core and he got knee pain. He put it down to thru axle being stiffer

I made the same choice Steve. I’m looking forward to having a go at ventoux and the other new routes but I didn’t fancy such a busy race today so I joined a Crit race instead. Kicking myself really... like a moth to the flame.... I knew we were going over the 20 minute mark as we hit the final lap and my power was high, but I was right at the front and thought I was close to a win. Fock it.... @bridgy, @IrishAl, @chaps. See you in 3 months... 👍

Welcome back @<Tommy> 👍 I had the same experience in an IRL race when I was bumped up. New it was happening but couldn’t stop myself despite the risks!

Absolutely loved the first stage of virtual TdF today - 69/2078 on the road. Mountain route is just made for me - I wish the climb went on longer so I could chew up more! I lost some places on the final flat in to the line and came last in the sprint in my group. All I need is a hilltop finish...

Got a new FTP of 282W too 👍

It’s an Elite Direto x, still got rim brakes , cranks same lengthsaddle height and setback seemed same but different saddle. Switched back to Arione saddle and give that a try . Previous bike a Giant Defy Aluminium , swapped to a titanium.
