I Only used erg and learnt to anticipate and spin up to power as the interval hit. I didn’t always get it right but the more I did blender or butter or 14 vice grips the easier I found it to anticipate. Unlike zwift TP’s you don’t get penalised if you miss a peak. So I didn’t see it as a failure if I couldn’t control the power quickly enough and strangely that left me more relaxed and possibly better able to do so.

@bobinski @Spartak notice any difference in the course?

I'll probably just do the new courses I think

1st one? Hydrate and eat well beforehand. Have a gel or jelly baby or two to hand and keep cool as you can with a fan. You must go all out on the 5 min before the 20min . Treat it like the start of a zwift race -you will have a bit of time to recover 😉

Yep correct, its awful. quite different results form zwift aswell :ohmy:. edit, no there not actually, i was comparing 20min to hour FTP

so all good

I'd never done the full course before only been as high as the Epic KOM..... Crikey to climb to the tower was tough.

Only difference I could see was advertising hoardings and a few yellow gazebos dotted about...

Start seemed pretty chaotic thought Zwift was going to crash although it dumped me way down the field, but it settled down after about a kilometer and was a nice ride.

EDIT : Quite a few friends experienced issues with it crashing !

Managed quite a few PB's on the way up inc. Epic KOM so happy with that and also lost a kilo in weight... 😥 👍

I am tempted to try a 4DP test. Quite like sufferfest videos. Are the free trials still like two weeks and can you do tests during the trial period?

Yes mate I’m only on the free trial.
As @bobinski says mate. Treat it like it’s going to be a hard race. Have a day off before and prepare like a race. If you do it properly you’ll find swear words you didn’t even know. 😂

:cry:not the best sales pitch!

I do think I'll do it though. I'm going to do a weigh in before this next race series on Monday and I suspect I'll be 1-2 kg heavier than I was so might need a kick up the backside

My lad did the 10am L’Etape ride, was going great, got the green jersey in the sprint, and then threw up all over the garage floor which lost him a load of places. He crawled across the line. Fair play for the max effort to throw up though.
