Recording of today's Flat volcano race if anyone interested. I would suggest @IrishAl might like to see his victory but alas I lost his wheel quite early on (I think it was as we left the pens  )

Legs were tired going into this race - I was only planning a gentle spin today - so didn't really have it in me to race today. Used it more to test out the bike and see what I need to tweak (middle gears slipping!).

Good to see you on the start line @Whorty making wise cracks 😃. It would certainly of been nice of you had you followed me round and sat back to capture my moment of victory 😀. It didn’t actually feel like a win - i just about held the front group as the group and The number of remaining B riders were whittled down - around 30 in front group including 5 B’s Going to the line. I had a few moments of danger on lap 2 where I could have been dropped but thankfully dug in and learned the positioning lessons for lap 3. On the run to the line it got frenetic going up the hairpins into the volcano but settled quite quickly as I guess everyone was sitting back to wait for the inevitable sprint. I tried to stay close to the front - top 10 - as the sprint launched but as usual got engulfed a bit but I held the power and came in around 15th overall and showing as 2nd B. It turns out the winning B was a ZP rider so he got the chop in Zwiftpower handing me the 🏆

I may be up for a race too tomorrow dependant on the time and if I get my chores done ^_^

If the chore in question is mowing that field you call a back garden. Maybe we should re schedule for Sunday! 😄

Del I’m going to join you at lunchtime for the Crit race I think. 20 miles around that circuit might feel like an extended stay in a washing machine, but I haven’t done that distance before so I want to give it a go. See you on the start line bud 👍

Good news!

It's a long Crit for me and I've got a club ride this morning, so this is going to be interesting!

From your experience of the DBR series I recall they had intermediate sprint and KOM primes. Did they run a separate KOM competition ? Or did the points all add up for overall league. We should also add a club element to it as well.

I don't remember there being separate competition for sprint primes and KoMs. Maybe I just missed them, so worth getting others who raced DBR to confirm or not.

They certainly did show the prime results after each race, so you could see the first 10 across the line for each prime, but I think they just got rolled up into the individual stage result.

It would be good to have individual sprint points and KoM competitions. I think the data is there. Just not sure that Zwiftpower actually tabulates the data, so it could be a manual process or some sort of screen scrape with those results published on the Team IRL Facebook page?

I'll probably find now that sprint primes and KoM tables were there all along on Zwiftpowrt but I just didn't know where to look!

Good suggestions for the iTT. Too many just use Bologna or Tempus Fugit so it will be nice to add something different. There is chat about having intermediate primes for bonus points - something which I am sure will spice it up a bit And liven up some of the Flatter courses where the racing can be quite dull.

Hi Alan, yes the primes all added to one overall points system. That is probably the easiest way to do it but I agree with Tommy and Del in that if it wasn't a pain in the arse then having a separate KOM and sprint classification would make things interesting for more riders. I think you'd have to just give points for 1st 2nd or 3rd though as it would get a bit of nightmare to track. Also you would maybe say before hand that there is only one or two sprints or Koms on a course- sometimes on Dbr it wasn't clear which ones counted.

Having all primes count toward the GC sort of made a nonsense of the final result as I believe the first person past the line should be the "winner."

It might also encourage more breakaways? For example on Richmond rollercoaster hopefully you would get some pure climbers go after the first two Koms then you have a break. Otherwise what tends to happen in these race series is that a heavy rider will almost always win a bunch sprint (I shouldn't be complaining)

I’ve got the robot doing that for me now, so have more time for doing important things like cycling. Might join you and Del on the crit race if I don’t go out Itrw.

Maybe I should stick to mowing and get a robot to cycle for me instead

I cycled along with a guy the other day. I was going in and around 3w/kg. His power stuck to 3w/kg without deviation for as long as I was looking at it. It did make me wonder if he was a cyborg. Or maybe he just had an incredibly smooth and consistent pedal stroke.

Again I'm going to punish myself and half agree with this- a good queen stage so that the same people don't win every stage, the alpe would be too much but a fairly brutal climb might make sense. Can't believe I'm typing these words :cycle:
@<Tommy> 's suggestion of a London race is a good idea - if you recall we did 2 laps of the London loop on the 1st DBR league, and that 2nd time up Box Hill was a killer. The Innsbruck KoM is also a biatch at race pace
