I'm a B rider now. If B had set off together we'd have probably won.
Well, we sat off like we finished... 2 man out front and 2 at the (way) back...

I went to the back at times you know. Had to turn the fan off and pedal at 115 RPM so I didn't freeze though.I thought you was team A ... oh well, D's being pulled by a B rider didn't help us
Surprised you’re not a little more sheepish right now to be honest. The A team will always be flying as they're the big hitting A-team. Just weren't flying enough tonight sadly.
Yes, quite.Sounds like I missed a good meet up ,hampered by misjudgement . I hope this doesn’t put anyone off organising event and spending time working out handicaps
I am in the middle of something at the minute so struggling to commit , I Would be very apologetic if my actions disrupted the results of others
Very strange.I was on the line and didn’t pedal. At 650 I went to change top as I forgot. Came back to meet-up and I was the only one there (it was still before 7). Odd. It worked fine last time out.
roll on next time!
Yes I left completely that was maybe the issue. User errorVery strange.
I went out into the pairing screen so that I could keep pedalling and no problem when I came back to the line.
Did you leave the Meet Up completely rather than just going into your garage from the Meet Up to change your jersey? All I'm thinking is that is if you left the Meet Up completely it may not let you back in.
Will be back on track next time. Thanks for organising, I appreciate it even if I did mess it up for our C team. C will be on fire next time 💪🏻Well the last B outing was excellent. Group rode well together and launched the faster riders on the KoM and we were close to catching both the D and C teams.
This time? Not so good.
Martin got a bad start again. Michael's Discord wasn't working. So we had Michael and Steen up the road, Martin nearly 10 seconds behind trying to get back on and me sitting half way between to give Martin something to aim for.
It probably took us over 2kms before we were together and could start riding as a team. But that was a team of 4 and not the 5 we should have been because Adam had decided to transfer himself into the D team, making a nonsense of the handicaps we'd sorted and leaving us a man down.
However, we then rode well together. We were closing on the C team (although I didn't realise they were down to 3) and holding the gap to A fairly well. Just after the first KoM the A team started to close the gap and shortly after Steen's 5 races in 5 days finally caught up with him and were down to 3.
We weren't going to hold off a 5 man A team with just 3 of us and inevitably they caught us as we re-entered the tunnels after the dirt roads. They didn't really gap us properly until the 2nd KoM. I fell 2 seconds back on the KoM. I think my 4 races in 5 days were telling by then, but Michael and Martin helped me back on and we then worked well together as we closed down on C. They held us off at about 4 seconds for some time but we caught them and passed through them on the rise to the bridge, despite Brendan trying to join us for a brief period!
Once we'd got a gap we pulled further away until suddenly Michael disappeared from the screen! Martin and I rode to the line and thankfully he reminded me to ride to the Meet Up finish line. I'd forgotten my own rules and was easing up after the finishing straight arch when I could see Chris Lenthall was closing rapidly. A quick acceleration and all was ok and Martin and I crossed the line.
So, the good news was that Michael was super strong and rode a great race although he told us he was done in just before he was actually gone from the screen. I was happy overall considering I'd ridden 4 races in 5 days. Just felt it on the KoMs today. We need to find Martin a launch system as he's had to close a 10 second gap in the last 2 races. Steen was strong until fatigue got him. Adam let us down by not reading the rules and then towing the D team. I'm going to be honest here. It's a pisser when you put in a lot of effort to organise tonight and that happens. It makes me question whether it was worth my time?
Congratulations to the A team and hope the new guys enjoyed the experience. Maybe the 3rd outing will get us back on track?

Yes we ended up getting some "assistance", but we each still had to put in a major shift ourselves - it wasn't like we were cruising around behind @Milzy all the way doing hardly any work. For example, I was just one watt off equalling my highest 20 minute power this year and got PRs on both climbs (tied on the reverse, by 15 secs on the forward), neither of which I was in the draft for the vast majority of.
And we managed to keep our whole group together all the way to the line apart from @JLaw, who unfortunately succumbed to trainer malfunction just 7 minutes in. Okay, so the rest of the group had to slow down a few times to let me catch up, but I'd say our time would have been pretty competitive regardless of other factors.
