The D(ream) Team

@Ketty @steverob @JLaw @Aleman @Spartak

Are we going to have another go on Discord tonight? For those who didn't race last time I think we are the Blue Channel?

I was thinking about the start too - I missed it last time and with us having a few more riders shall we ease out of the blocks, get in a tidy group and then accelerate on? Open to any suggestions!

We also have no @Marino.g this time - Marino was one of our final 3 riders 2 weeks ago which will mean we'll have to be careful on that last climb and not split the group. Maybe try and get at least 4 over that together and then recover then push on really hard? @Ketty might need to control that final climb and have his camera in 'reverse' view to make sure he's not dropping anyone and to keep the team together.

Maybe get 6 over the first climb, aim to get 4 over the second and see where we go?

Anyway, don't want to make it too complicated but hopefully we can win it this time!!! :boxing:
I think we actually did quite well in keeping the team together last time, whether by design or by accident! We started with 5 riders and had it not been for @Joffey's technical problems, we would still have had all five together at the top of the first climb. I then managed to stay with the group until the second climb (considering I'm probably the weakest rider of the group) and it was only because I didn't want them slowing up, that I told them to fly once I'd been distanced on the early part of that climb.

I think it is important to get the start right in order to get us into a drafting group as soon as possible. I think too many of us are used to the crazy starts needed in the DBR leagues and so are typically riding off at 400+ watts for the first 30 seconds, whereas with this ride we need a reasonably fast but not ridiculous start and slowly build up from there.

Thought I should repost the rules we agreed last time as a reminder and for our two new riders - @JLaw and @Spartak

Times as follows for the teams:

D @ 19:00
C @ 19:03
B @ 19:05
A @ 19:07 and 30 seconds (if they only have 5 riders this becomes 19:07)

We'll race from the Meet Up spawn point rather than the first time we pass under the start/finish arch (about 0.4 to 0.5 kms down the road). The race finishes when we pass under under the start/finish arch the second time.

Every team finishes their race when their 3rd fastest rider crosses the line. Hopefully, it will be clear on the screen what the finishing order is, but if there is any dispute, we''ll use this Strava segment to decide the finishing order, based on the time of the 3rd fastest rider for each team

https://www.strava.com/segments/12118421?filter=overall

Note that this segment starts and finishes at the arch, so there is a slight discrepancy here, but its the best I can do!

If a team is about to be overtaken, they must yield and not try to tag on to the overtaking team. The overtaken team have to allow the overtaking team to pass and get enough of a gap so that they can't be drafted. Once that is done, the overtaken team can push on again.

This rule applies until the final sprint point about 2kms from the finishing line. From there, no yielding is required and both teams may ride head to head.

Discord channels are as follows:

A team: CC-TTT-Yellow
B team: CC-TTT-Red
C team: CC-TTT-Green
D team: CC-TTT-Blue

Enjoy!

And let the banter commence!! :boxing:

Thanks @Del C
I'm looking forward to it....

Great work @Del C

Any predictions?

I reckon D(ream) team to win by a whisker with all the other teams closing in but just running out of road. No pressure guys.
Hard to say.

C are weaker with you moving up, but still some strong riders there.

Ketty staying in D helps them, so I think C and D will be close again.

B are weaker with Nick and Andy moving up, but are 1 minute closer to C, so could be close. B need one of 3 to get over the last KoM with Martin and Adam, so keeping the group together there is probably important, otherwise the 3rd guy is gapped and the front two will be slower.

A is interesting. Start of the week they were decimated, with Pete and Tommy out and no Bridgy. Now Bridgy is back and turbo permitting so is Tommy. Having Andy and Nick in their team can only help as both are on good form. I could have moved Nick back down, but as Tommy isn't certain thought it better to leave them there and stretch the handicap. That could make it tight as well.

It should be interesting!

We're down to 4 riders now as Andy has had to pull out. I know we deserve to be put in our place due to winning last time () but is it too late to request a rider be nicked from team D to give us a slight chance? I don't want to start making excuses just yet, but A have 6 riders but uspoor, weak, helpless C have only 4

Actually, if you leave us with 4 then we have our excuses ready for why we lost :cuppa:

Bike booked in for next Friday to have work done: replace BB, replace front deraileur, replace chain (which was very worn!). Hopefully will make the pedal a bit smoother and will allow me to go back on to BRVR and get on some climbs :okay:

Is @CXRAndy definitely out?

I hadn't' seen that.

If so, we can move @Ketty back into C to level the teams up again.

I’m in. But no @berry basset or @Alongo? Is it me or does our time keep getting extended... I guess that’s what happens when the bloke setting the handicaps is direct competition....

#Bteamshittingthemselves! 😁
I thought @berty bassett and @Alongo were both in?

Both of them said they would be there - to be precise I think @berty bassett said he was going to try and make it, but I haven't seen anything so I've assumed he's ok.

If the team drops to 5 then we just move the handicap back to 2 minutes after B, ie 7 minutes

If we lose a rider (especially if it's someone as strong as @Ketty), I'm going to want an extra 30 seconds as recompense for D!

EDIT- Crosspost with @Joffey, saying exactly the same thing!
