Zwift racing as you know is most fun when you're racing with or against people who race at similar pace to you - Tommy and Lee are the two people I tend to be closest to most of the time (even though they keep battering me at the moment!) and as they were giving zsun a go it made sense for me to as well. When I did a couple of the Danish league races recently, I didn't enjoy the racing that much - not because I got a kicking which is true! But because I had no Cyclechat B cat teammates near me for most of the time - I think at the moment that would happen a lot doing organised zwift series races in the CC team for me - particularly without Tommy and Lee around.

Yes, being tail end Charlie here, I rarely ride with any CC-riders after the first few frantic km/minutes. But I still collect a few points here and there for the team, even if just by finishing the races, even if motivation for it is quite low at times.

You could maybe have "persuaded" Lee and Tommy to ride with us in the league(s) and then still have your faster buddies around. That would be a win-win for you AND the CC-team. It is not like they didn't get the offer from the rest of us.

In other news, @peterob has been promoted to A-cat, so he will not be allowed to ride in B-cat anymore.

The Wednesday group rides are hard for me to get to with work unfortunately. With the baby I can only really do one regular slot a week (which I prioritise being a race) and then try and cram random rides along that.

That said it is a great idea and the more people on discord the more fun it will be.

Great reply Paul,

We, the royal 'we' thought we'd done some thing to offend a few of you. I know there was a little bit of tension releasing at the weekend but it was just that, lockdown tension I suppose.

You never know we might pop across to Zsun--I think I'm a member already from ages ago for a bit of racing too:eek:.

If you leave that forum, then we all know, we smell and you don't want us around

I'll definitely try and do whatever rides are posted, cant guarantee all but will try :okay:

I did get a text message this morning to say there was a bit of conversation on cc. But I don’t think that constitutes a secret WhatsApp cartel does it? 😄

I couldn’t of said it better than bridgy really. But now the dust has settled I think it is worth saying something maybe. I wasn’t angry over the weekend. It’s not lock down tension (still running 3 business’ here!). I just made a fairly straight forward comment as far as I was concerned and that was that. Done. I don’t like conflict at all but I don’t have a problem challenging people either.

I just think it comes down to the old adage that you can’t get in with everyone. Probably more so on a public forum! Or maybe I have a bit of Yorkshire in me Andy. Because I tend to say it as I see itand don’t suffer fools gladly. That is a Yorkshire thing right? Well I guess sometimes that rubs people up the wrong way. But we are who we are.

But I still have lots of people here that I have a lot of time for and lots of laughs. Quite a few people have private messaged me over the weekend to say nice things which was very much appreciated too.

Regarding zsun it doesn’t mean I won’t race and ride with cc. It just means I’m doing races with zsun. I’ll still be doing the Wednesday rides for example. Still planning trips etc.
As bridgy says they have a lot more people for us to race with at our pace. There’s a lot of women in the group too which probably keeps the testosterone levels down. And also change is always good.

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on here much at all lately - nothing personal, it's simply that I've been pretty stressed with the whole lockdown situation for various reasons and I just found myself not coming onto the forum like I normally do in my normal daily routine - no other reason than this. I am literally about a month behind on what's going on!

I also lost my motivation for racing for a while but I am now keen to get back into that again. You're right that I have joined the zsun team on zwift to try doing some racing with them. Again, nothing personal, and I'm just giving it a go at the moment (I'm still in the CC team on ZP, just made zsun my "primary" team for now).

But because I had no Cyclechat B cat teammates near me for most of the time - I think at the moment that would happen a lot doing organised zwift series races in the CC team for me - particularly without Tommy and Lee around. By contrast, I did my first race with zsun last night and there were 12 Cat Bs from zsun there and I was with teammates for the entire race (and Tommy wasn't even there!) so it was a big difference! So as I say, nothing personal at all, just to do with the current make up of riders on here - which does seem to have a strong group of closely matched C Cat riders which is great - and also a desire to try something different as I haven't ever really done much of these organised zwift race series in a team.

As for the "social" meetup rides some of us have been doing on a Wednesday I'm very happy to keep doing this if there's interest - numbers were quite low last week so let me know if there's still interest in doing it and I will set up a meetup :okay:
Hard to argue with that.

As I said I got a big kick out of the team riding in C cat, so I understand the draw of racing with a bigger B group. Disappointing that Tommy and Lee didn't ride in CC with you, but even if they had it wouldn't compare to the numbers you'll see in ZSUN, so it makes sense to me.

I'll always be happy to join the group ride, even though you forgot to invite me last week  But I can only stay for part of the ride on Wednesday as I organise the Time Trial for my cycling club at 19.00

I didn't send you a message, but that's because I picked up the discussion late and then decided I didn't want to get involved! :surrender:

Good luck with your racing in ZSUN. Said all I needed to say on that in my reply to Paul.

Yeah, stay in touch and hope to see you on @bridgy 's group rides and in France if the Ventoux trip does go ahead.

You don’t need to message me Del. We both know how much you rely on me to keep your dreadful excuses in check 😁

Is there a way from Strava (free version) of working out your power for a particular segment? I had a pb 20 min effort which I assume was the first 20 mins of the ride, but I was freewheeling for the last 30 seconds of it...I wonder what my average was for the first 19 mins and 30 seconds just for the sake of it. Really killed myself up box hill

Yes ... top left ish of that ride you have the option to select 'Analysis'. You can then drag the bar on the power graph across for your time (say 19 mins) then it re-draws the graph just for that time and shows your ave power over that period.

Cheers. I tend to just use the app on my phone but I'm probably missing out on a lot of the detail. Still don't think I could be tempted by the paid version

Only just now got a chance to catchup with the DBR league ride from Monday.....so here's the update CC league with those results.

Not had a chance to see how it has affected things in the DBR league standings but there looks to have been some impressive performances :okay:

You can also use Veloviewer - the free version will import your last 20 Strava activities (full version has no limits and is £10 a year) and then you can go into the activity and using the Best Splits tab, you can see what your best 20 mins (or 6 mins or 3 km or whatever distance/time you choose) was for power, cadence, heart rate and speed.

It will also then show you where that was on the map. For example, my best 20 mins for power on Monday was from the start pens to about 80% of the way up Box Hill, but 5 min power was best from the lap banner to Trafalgar Square, and 1 min power was the sprint for the finish line on the 2nd lap.

Cheers @bridgy I can't join the meetup as my ANT+ stick failed and the replacement isn't here yet
