I see Uran Uran (so good they named him twice) wasn’t so good tonight. He raced in the DBR Cat A race and came 19th!

Yes, but look at his other races. Except the first one, they have all been at around 5.5 wkg.

Yesterday was clearly a route for the skinny types. No wonder Messineo won and the current Lotto-Soudal Pro rider (R.B.Iversen) only came 3rd.

I think Rigoberto was just out for a nice little spin not really making an effort.

Thanks. I don’t feel my power numbers are particularly impressive, which is why I struggle so much on the flats! As long as the road points upwards I can compete

@Whorty - these are the only riders in B cat who were over power last night. Only a few of them:

They’re only just on or over the limit so more likely that they’re progressing rather than sandbagging. Presumably they’ll be upgraded to A for the next race.

Come and join us, it’s a sandbagger free paradise :okay:

They’ve taken my placing away from me again this morning.
Don’t get it when you have a good race and they say it’s too good and moved me up to cat c where I would be in the bottom 5.
I’m done with the virtual racing game but I’ll be back next week to help the Cat D team.:okay:

I hope so. You are capable!

There is much less sandbagging - looks like one possible sandbagger to me in B Cat, and three borderline so it just isn't an issue in B.

Looks like the next stage is going to be two laps of the Richmond UCI course - so mostly flat with three bumps in the second half. Will be a challenging route for both of us, but I think you belong in B. :okay:
Just looked at my numbers and still didn't quite make B numbers last night - an ave of 249 over 20 mins just gets me in and I was 243 last night. Hopefully when I drop another kg and a bit more training and I'll be there!

As soon as i think I won't be dropped in the first 300 metres (as happened last time I joined B and thought I was ready) I'll come across. I don't think I'm quite there yet - hopefully next few weeks.

Fantastic results all round - congratulations everyone.

Looks like the podium is already taking shape in C Cat, and 1st place might be up for grabs in D Cat!

@Marino.g - looking at your power numbers, you are only just tipping the scales into C Cat territory. So I agree it's probably better to stay in D for now but you will need to practise your race craft to reduce your avg power but stay in the race. Coast on downhills, stay in the draft at all costs, and equip the most appropriate frame and wheels available for the best speed with lowest power output.

The next DBR race is two laps of Richmond UCI circuit. Richmond will be available to ride on 23rd, 24th, 25th so you could join a D Cat race on the same circuit on those dates and practise your race craft so you know what it takes to be under the 2.5W/KG limit?

Team CycleChat have an opportunity to win the league in D Cat - it might feel weird but the best way you can help them do that is to back off in areas that you can afford to do so (see above) to stay in that D Cat power range. You probably won't be challenging for the podium if you stay in the required power range but you will be contributing to a possible win in the league, and improving as a racer

Will miss your video this week Martin . Are you gonna fill in with a race tomorrow ?

Have to wait for a new ANT+ stick to arrive (ordered it last night). It looks like it has got corroded from all the sweat - it is on the end of an extender cable, near the wheel. P##ssed off as I was looking forward to the race and was feeling good.

I will find a race to do when the stick arrives - so long as that does fix the issue.

I think it will as my Garmin was seeing the correct power numbers. I tried switching to bluetooth but read later that it is a known limitation of the Powertap pedals that Zwift over bluetooth only picks up the L or the R pedal and doesn't use the combined number. So I could have raced at half power but that seemed a bit pointless

Be careful Carl I notice that your nearly B in zp and the same might happen to you where you’re have a good race in C and take the placing away from you and then put you in cat B.
I raced in the Category I was given by ZP and I reckon the Dbr racer Jason Bartrum races and never goes above wattage to keep himself in D and keeps getting first place.

Oh no! Did you finish the race??

I enjoyed that! Finished 30th on the road, ride the final section from escalator with one guy and resisted the urge to pull a turn and sucked the wheel all the way to the line. He sprinted but I went with him and out-sprinted him!:becool::hyper::wahhey:

Got a PR on box hill and an increased FTP too (236W>253W) so a nice race overall.

Can’t believe my piddly climbers legs out sprinted someone

Brilliant effort. Well done.
