What is that clicking Martin ? Thought it was the bottom bracket but doesn’t seemed in sync with your cadence. Good racing , well done .

Wife always laughs and says “ Are you watching cartoon racing bikes again ? “ If she only knew the effort that went into it eh ! 😂

I really am not sure. I think it is just the frame. I can make it click without the pedals turning, so I don't think it is the BB.

Yep, the effort is not obvious until you hear the panting

Quick Race Report from yesterday:

I was on the start line as soon as the race opened and was sat there on my own for a few minutes which was novel. There were 5 of us B’s from Cyclechat me, @Del C @Brusgaard @peterob and @Alongo but no @LBHIFI .

I was technically “tired” having had a fairly hard week, doing a 50 miler on Sunday outside and doing 20 miles with Wendy in the morning, so I was interested in how I would fare. There were 103 signed up and 88 starters in our B Pen.

It was a fast start, but nothing like some of the shorter races. It can’t have been quick because after 45 seconds I was in first position! Not for long of course. As we approached the first Prime I was just behind Pete and was shouting encouragement to him. We both pushed and amazingly I got 4th place and Pete got 5th. I didn’t expect that.

After 4 minutes, the race was already fractured into several groups. Steen, Pete and I were in the front group of about 50 which stayed together as we entered Titan’s Grove.

The pace picked up and, with a mix of inattention and being nackered, both Pete and I allowed the main pack to slip away and we ended up in a small group of 4-6 behind. Pete dropped back on the kicker after the KOM and I could see he would wait and join a larger group behind him. I pressed on but assumed Pete’s pack would catch me later on so I didn’t bust a gut too much.

With 11 miles to go, Pete’s pack did indeed catch us and we re-entered Titan’s Grove with a group of about 10 of us and stuck pretty much together until the end.

The pace picked up as we approached the final sprint and I waited, and waited and ….cocked up my sprint yet again. As I was about to turn the taps on, we rounded the bend and hit the finish line. I don’t think it made much difference but I may have had one or two places more.

I came 37th of 88 starters on the road – which translated to 26th on Zwiftpower finally. Pete was one place ahead of me!

If anyone is interested and can bear the constant clicking, here is the recording

A good accurate write up @Norry1 :okay: - you are right - I was buggered after the KoM and needed a bit of respite so slipped back into that group where we joined you at the start of lap 2. I think pretty much everyone in the group was feeling it a bit so we all stayed together and no-one tried to take a flyer.

I just checked out your video to have a look at the first sprint. I knew the sprint was coming after 2.5km but was expecting some sort of arch and didn't realise it was just a line in the road - you'll notice that I keep pushing my sprint after the line and fly-off into the lead up the road!

And thanks for the encouragement

Anyone seen or heard from @Brendan Parker ? I'm sure he was signed up yesterday but didn't make the start, and he wasn't online last night or today. Hope he's OK?
Sorry lads been so wrapped up in working from home. Actually busier than normal and had to venture to London today for a site visit ( social distanced :okay:). Which was quite surreal to be honest. Had to work Sunday/Monday and today to get a job back for the deadline today. All done now so normal (whatever that is) duties resume.
just flicking through here see the race went well. Well done all.

Just a bit worried mate, with all this shoot going on you never know if any of us will do a Boris! Glad to hear you're well :okay:

Me Too!:cry: Although my Free replacement Vector battery covers have just dropped through the door, so I feel an extended lunch break just about to start ^_^^_^
Well that was straightforward, Pedals off covers and battery board swapped out, Pedals fitted, Firmware updated ... Job Done!

Just hope Garmin have finally fixed the Gremlins with the Battery Covers in the pedals after 3 attempts! :cursing::cursing::cursing:

Anyone fancy a quick blast tonight? There is a 18:30 Tick Tock flat race (19km) that I'm looking at (Cat C obviously, although there seems to be more B riders in C race at the moment  )

Im just installing my Di2 Alfine hub, all was going well until I wanted to test the shift, no response from the display control unit. Despite numerous attempts it won't connect. I swapped in my Tripster display, all works fine. So faulty display

Oh well more parts to order:biggrin:

Not me.

I'm following the wise advice of Doctor @Alongo and having a day off. I'm doing my club time trial tomorrow night but I'm going to just take it easy for a week. I may also try some of this Zone 2 stuff! :becool: I'm also going to try and find some workouts that help my short term power. If anyone has any recommendations in the Zwift workouts, let me know.

Today has been all about weeding in the garden and straightening up the lawn. My hoe (the garden tool) action was just incredible. Had to be seen to be believed. And I was putting a sustained 4w/kg through my spade when edging the lawn. That poor lawn never stood a chance! :boxing:

I’m up for another cc spin tomorrow. Last week the elastic band effect (not sure if that’s the technical term...) worked pretty well and it was a good laugh.

Kip has asked if we can start a little later so maybe 18:00 if that works for people. Everyone’s welcome of course. From racing snakes, to them what loves cakes! 🎂

( speaking of cakes, Happy birthday whippet! :hugs: 🍾)
