Question about running . My sister has just asked me how she can use the cheap running machine and something to sync her running data to strava, it’s a very basic machine so I think she would need a footpod and some sort of app , Zwift is not an option for her ,,any ideas chaps
Yep foot pod, but it will need to be calibrated with the treadmill for accurate results not 100% perfect but it works, there is a app for the iPhone called RunCline as she can us the incline for elevation as well you get the fit file emailed to you so you could upload to Strava.

that’s all I know apart from using Zwift for running

Almost flat - long - gonna hurt. Done.

Besides, you haven’t signed up...
Oh no, a flat course today start!!

Haven’t decided on B or C cat yet. I’m a C cat as things stand and never been promoted on Zwiftpower but think I will be promoted at some point in the league so that leaves me considering B cat from the start.

Even this evening I’m undecided but I think I will enter C and race as hard as I can. If I get promoted then I can contribute to B but until then I will contribute to C. Unless I change my mind.

OK I can answer this because I've done it! Firstly she needs a footpod - Zwift do their own you can buy, but it's not just for Zwift, it will record distance on a treadmill even if you don't use Zwift. You can buy it direct from Zwift - https://zwift.com/uk/shop/product/Zwift-run pod. It just attaches to one of your trainers.

However, annoyingly the strava app won't connect to things like the footpod now so you can't just use the strava app to record the run directly onto strava. The way I get round this is to use the Wahoo Fitness app to record the run - unlike strava it will link to the footpod (and also a HRM if wanted). And you can link the Wahoo fitness app to strava and get it to auto upload to your run to strava as soon as you've finished - job done!

Isn't it ... long flat start through the desert, climb/roll through the dinosaurs, and round again for a second lap? That long flat first section is going to be crazy fast if you can hold on.

Not going to be much of a race for me ... wife is insisting I stay safe so I'll just be looking to get into a group and finish. I won't be looking to get into the lead group tomorrow ..... unless they decide to roll out at Zone 2 pace

Thanks that seams straight forward enough for her to understand

I can help!

You're a C cat, so start in C. You'll be competitive and towards the front of the race in a strong Cyclechat team. You'll get a kick out of seeing your team mates around you and it will help drive you on. And you'll be helping the team to score points.

If that results in you getting promoted to B, then that's the way it goes. But, moving up is a big step. My first race after getting promoted to B cat in the feltet.dk series, I was blown out the back after the first km and then rode a 34km individual time trial, which is a lot more depressing than competing up the front end of the race. My second B race, I started much better and managed to get into the last group on the road and stayed with them to the end. So I felt much better and contributed a single point to the B cat team for finishing.

Carl had a very similar experience when he rode the first race of the series as a B cat, and then stepped down and rode competitively in C cat.

So my advice is start as C. If you form is good you'll contribute well to C and if you earn promotion move up then and help me out at the arse end of the B cat race!

I agree. Make the most of being high end C until ZP tells you to move. It is a bit of a knock when you go from being competitive to being an also ran. It was for me anyway. But it is then rewarding when you start improving in your new, bigger fishpond.
