12 days down ... day 13 of 14 today. Probably go for a workout today, with a short spin on the final day tomorrow (taking wifey to see neurologist tomorrow so can't do anything major to celebrate my new 'Unemployed' badge  As of next Tuesday I'll have a bit of work each week so i'll no longer be unemployed ..... do i get to keep my badge

I feel a little happier with climbs only 5 ish mins long. I can go over threshold for that long- well usually:laugh:

I hope to keep hold of a group.

Last event I tried to bridge a 10 second gap to a pack of 10, I was in a pack of 3 on the flat. I got to within 1 measly second and then pop:sad:. Burnt my matches for the rest of the ride.

I shouldn't of been alone, but I let this group go on the descent whilst I tried to recover from the Bolognese climb. I was feeling quite sick and needed to stop pedalling all way down the descent
The first KOM is very early on aswell so get a good warm up :okay:

Don't know how Del's ride went, and what groups he get in, but I find this graph comparing our times fro stage 5 quite interesting (the is the Everything Bagel segment in Strava). We finished within 2 seconds of each other, so I was expecting to see our times tracking quite well through the race but actually our rides were completely opposite. @Del C had a fast first half, and I seemed to have a very fast section, at about 17.5km, where I pulled back the time deficit. Maybe Del lost a group at that point, or I found a fast group (not sure).

You can see I lost time on the final KoM descent to Del ..... there were 3 of us only on the drop. I lost concentration and didn't see a group catching us ... they flew past us just after the descent. One of the 3 of us reacted and managed to stick with them - me and the 3rd rider got stuck! I took the chase on and the other guy sat on, but when I gave him the chance to help me I could see he was suffering. There was another group 14 seconds behind, so I sat up and waited for them (they would have caught me anyway, so no point me wasting energy trying to keep them away). You can see at about 29km where that group caught me, I latched on and my time against Del improved. The group was about 10 strong and moving at a good pace, so me being there helped my time.

I checked on the rider who came down the KoM with me and made the first group - he finished 28 seconds ahead of me ... that little loss of concentration lost me 28 seconds.

Interesting.

Is that a Strava premium feature?

I did get away fairly well. Probably the hardest I've gone at the start since my cardio check up. First climb was quite strong and I held my place and got a PR on the KoM.

Descended in a group, although it was one I had to keep working in. When we reached the park, I think there was a sustained rolling section that I struggled with a bit, although I stayed with the group, having to use a power-up at one point to help out.

Then, after a brief flat section, another rolling bit. I was near the back of the group and as the leaders kicked, I got caught in a sticky draft of another rider as I tried to follow them. I had to kick hard to get past the sticky rider, but it was too late and a 1 to 2 second gap grew quickly until I'd lost another 10-15 seconds in no time at all.

I remember "thanking" the sticky rider and losing a little momentum for a short while. I was a little pissed off, especially when the sticky rider then came past me! He soon blew up and I was past him again, but riding solo and certain that I was losing time.

I think I got caught by a small group that I jumped on before the second climb. That was steady and not as strong as first climb, but I got into a little group on the descent, which merged with another small group and we pretty much stayed together to the line.

Having written all that, it looks like it tracks to the graph shape to me. Good start, strong over the first KoM and descent, lost time in the middle between the 2 climbs and pulled time back on the last descent and run in.

No, standard Strava feature. For a segment there is a 'compare' button - if you're on yourself, it will compare that ride for you against your best time for that segment. If you're looking at another rider, then it will compare their segment against your best time. For this analysis, as my best time was yesterday, I clicked on your ride, opened that segment for you and hit compare.

I think if you have the premium feature then you can compare multiple riders but personally I don't see the point in paying for Strava premium.

That's quite a handy feature. Looking at me v @<Tommy> Stage 4 is a lot simpler to interpret - I gained my time on the first climb and lost it all on the second!

TdY Im looking forward to cycling up Cow n Calf in Ilkley and East Chevin road, Otley .

I haven't cycled up the calf since I was 14 years old on a single speed, it nearly killed me.

Chevin is brutal at 21% in sections.

I was going to have a crack at it this year but will be doing another France Spain trip and the dates clash. If you get a chance on the Saturday head to the shibden wall climb near Halifax to watch, a 15% cobbled climb which they go quite slow up. I watched it there a couple of years back it was packed with spectators and a great atmosphere.

Whole household has the lurgy at the moment so not sure I'll do anymore of the tour de zwift. Not a great advert for a "meat free month" this January. I've basically been varying levels of sick the whole time!
Not good mate ..... lesson learned ... stay away from this 🥕🌽🥬🥦🥑 green stuff, and get some of this 🥓🥩🍗🍖🌭🍔🍛🍤 down your neck 👍
