Had a bash at hare and hounds race tonight. Great racing đź‘Ť
I do like that format. Always a good blast. Depending how I feel, I sometimes join B group just to see how long I can hang on to the lead group  My best is about 12 minutes :B)

Was quite a long one I think. 24 mile. We held off b group for about 20 mile. Good events. Came 6th out of c group quite chuffed really as I was blowing after about 15 mile

All jokes aside I’m sure short term losses will equate to long term gains. Fingers crossed anyway! I know from my own perspective and maybe the other guys like breedin and berty who do physical work might have a view on it too. That even though I’m tired through the week, when I’m well rested a think I get a positive benefit from it overall.
Yeah well my work mostly involves sitting on my arse all day so compared to those of you who have physical jobs, me doing a few extra runs can't really be an excuse can it?!

Maybe i will test my ability someday how well my wings carry me on a race, cat D naturally.
I was wondering when you would join the league and start racing. Some of your PBs on Strava are way better than mine, so I think you're doing yourself a disservice as a D cat .... must be at least a B :popcorn::biggrin:

I don’t know. Honestly. I know I can’t race two days in a row without a serious drop off on the second day. I can do TrainerRoad three days consecutive before I need a rest day. So that’s just my basic understanding of me but we’re all different.
I think part of what makes more naturally athletic people better athletes is their ability to recover sooner. I’ve always been very slow to recover. I’ve seen you race consecutive days numerous times so I have a feeling you recover a lot better than I do. Lee too. Who does a physically tough job and is older than me seems to need less recovery than me.

In you’re case I’d have to assume running will have a long term gain but it’s got to be tough to run one day and have a race like the one we had the next day? I think the work I do is sort of a slow drain on my energy bank. So I end the day tired and fatigued but not enough where I can’t fully recover for the following days work. I guess you’d have to assess how you feel on race day to know what effect it’s had? 🤷‍♂️

I’ve also spoken to a few guys who have got into triathlon and they always say they think it’s easier for a runner to start cycling than for a cyclist to start running. It’s something to do with the way both effect your leg muscles in opposite ways. So I guess you’ll be going through a bit of a translation period at the moment.
The recovery from running is WAY better than it was when I started in September. I've gradually increased my speed and distance but have hardly any aching or stiffness the next day now. But I suppose it just makes sense that racing on fresher legs having rested for a day or two beforehand will be better. It's unfortunate timing with regards our league that the days I'm at the gym are Monday and Wednesday and I can't do anything about that!

I have try to save myself from pain much i could ^_^. But no doubt about it racing brings more excitement on Zwift. I think the group rides what i have done quite a lot recently is a good testing for me and preparing to race. what i meant that there are different level group rides where i can test myself how well i can stay in a group and that give me an image what category is best for me if i race. Maybe cat C is closer my physical shape but i think it’s best to start from the bottom.

Try some C Cat social rides see how you get on, I'm spending more time near the front now so I'll upgrade myself to B Cat at the end of January and spend time with them, makes racing seem easier
