It’s quite frustrating reading about the races and not being involved through injury. I’m sure lots of you guys can relate to that to be fair so I won’t winge...

I’m back at the hospital Monday to hopefully hear that the fracture is completely healed. It’s still going to be sore but maybe next week or the week after latest I can join a race. Then it’s just the usual game of sticking a target on someone’s back and trying to catch them!

Traineroad is just how I remember it... :tired:

As long as you're comfortable taking advantage of my stage 3 technical issues*....

*which annoyingly look like they won't end up making any difference so I won't actually be able to use it as an excuse
It’s just like I am sitting in my favourite armchair ! ^_^

Yeah you can't beat the races for combining a bit of fun with completely wrecking yourself! GWS mate - will be good to have you back racing with us soon

On a good day I might claw 60 secs back on the Alpe but it’s not enough. If There’s no shows & I won it would only be a hollow technical lead. It’s just a two horse race now.

You're a fair bit lighter than me I think, and a better climber as a result so I wouldn'r rule out you taking second place off me on the big climb. It might not be the alpe - I might have a look at alternative big climbs we can do instead that might still work as a meet-up

@bridgy there is a Pump Room 8 organised race on about 5 today. Can I join this and use as my time in the league, if I wait for the other riders to leave the pen and I follow 30 seconds later? This should mean I don't have anyone to work with (I will almost certainly catch other riders but they will be slower than me so I won't gain anything by drafting them). Happy to wait a minute or longer if that is more acceptable.

If not no worries - I'll join the ride anyway and leave the pen the same time as everyone else.

Can race commissaires make a call before the flag falls? :okay:

I think that would be fair enough if you wait for the main race to go before you start - only reason we say not to set times during big group races is the drafting benefit which can make a huge difference and be more beneficial in an official race than our own small meet-up and therefore makes it a bit unfair. But the way you're suggesting doing it sounds fine I think - unless anyone near you in the league objects!

Not raced up the old Epic KoM, and the Tower, for ages so that could be an option. Slightly shorter climb (sorry Lee) and some rolling roads too.

Cool. Thanks. I'll wait for a minute for the other riders to leave the pen then I'll set off.

Anyone else fancy joining me?

Could be interesting as I'll be chasing the race from the off and anyone I do catch on the way will be slower than me and so no help. May change to the Tron bike for a change :bicycle:

Personally (and yes I know this makes me sound like a bit of a dick...) I say select the course and do it in a non race setting. I can see various different points where you will possibly get a drafting benefit so why bother and not just pick the course? Or wait ten minutes until you have very small or no chance of running into people. It’s not just this race but a general clear cut principle.

Disclaimer: I’m a nitty nickers nit picker and I can’t help it...But that’s how I think....

I don’t mind either way what you choose but that’s my opinion.

Hang on Paul- didn’t you draft Lee for as much of the race as possible

Personally I think the mountain and tower would be more exciting race
Alp is a slow motion trip into hell
But whatever Bridgy thinks
Be warned though - I will try my best to take wheel hugging to a new level

I might try for the 1705 race. I'll just do it normally and not count it towards the league tho as I'm on call so there's a fair chance I'll need to get off to answer the phone
