no - i got dropped right at the beginning , sweating like a pig and heart rate way up but no power - plus i had someone sitting on my wheel telling me to go faster ! so i had a strop and slowed down , shed is gonna need a drainage system in it if it gets much hotter
Didn't realise Tommy was on the ride too

Saw that you was on the ride Lee but didn't see you in the group of B's that caught us (that seemed to be pushing A power!). Was you with the group of A's chasing us down?

That was quite hard work. The surging was difficult to maintain. The B group dropped me and a few others 4 times, and I chased back on 3 times .... the 4th time though, legs just didn't have it in them :surrender: The pace up until then was fairly easy, and could have stayed with the C's all day .... but boy did those B's put the hammer down :B)
Wanted to test the knee out as the tracking seems to have returned to normal and it’s stopped cracking and popping. I’ve been able to spin the pedals fairly well but whenever I applied decent power have been feeling pain, hopefully managed to get it to settle down with KT tape, light stretching , flexibility and mobility exercises. Been using a book called” Ready to run “ by Kelly Starrett, it’s got some great mobility tips in it.
Anyway , didn’t expect to keep up all the race , but surprised myself and got dropped just 2 km from end on short underpass incline. Enjoyed the ride with you Carl, you did well getting back on each time. Overall very pleased, managed to put a few decent efforts in and knee feels good, have to start a bit of a rebuild now .

As Andy says, it's a Hair and Hounds race. Bit like our TTT that we used to do. I like these as the C groups do try to stay together (some of the weaker riders will drop off the group but 90% will stay together) so it's a good format to practice drafting etc in Zwift. These races tend to be on the flatter Zwift courses (like tonight on London flat) as these are the easier to stick together on, although there are a couple of little lumps to practice holding power whilst not losing your group.

Def worth a try.

This is all very different to H&E which is a magazine I saw for sale in Smiths recently and was, well, a little disturbing

Good old H&E.
Forgot that one.

I kept trying to keep the group together. I bust me up keep dragging riders back to the group of Bs and in the end I popped .... well, I popped twice but then seemed to be able to get back on both times  The last time I couldn't be bothered and formed a little group with 3 others :okay: I saw you going up the road :notworthy: Well done mate.

Are you guys still riding? Having had some time out and even purchasing a new bike (second hand) I decided to test it yesterday with 3 laps of my local park. I think I once managed a 21mph lap, but I must be making about half the power now as I could only muster 17mph average. Also I was so knackered after 2 laps I couldn't keep going so gave up. I think I've hit rock bottom and hopefully try to work back up to some fitness for the winter turboing.

yep, still riding although currently focusing on BRVR to get some climbing into the legs. I race on Zwift 1-2 times a week, but could do more if others are around :okay:

What bike did you get?

The BKOOL world is always there. I’m in the same boat. I’ve never gotten into any kind of fitness yet this year as you know from my dying in Wales.
Checking here every day for humor and motivation helps as well as being an obnoxious commentator on Strava. I look at some rides that the Jimmies have been doing in real life and realize I better start riding a lot more to get ready for turbo season.

evening Bill - its gutting when you have a bit of a lay off and see low figures on your comeback , but its a buzz when the fitness starts creeping back , i think a few were talking about starting turboing again soon - even a broken Tommy - do you do zwift yet ?

Hi Berty. It was definitely worse than I expected. I actually thought for some reason that I'd be able to do 19mph but I was so much worse than I expected. The pain in those wobbly jelly legs felt really rubbish as the fit cyclists passed me. I used to be able to give most of them a good race but I'll have to knuckle down if that's to happen again. Hopefully I can get up the motivation I need. Not yet joined Zwift and won't be able to until it cools down as my loft aircon is broken. So it's laps of the park for me until then.

Hi Randy. I got a Giant Defy pro in a small and it is quite comfy compared to the canyon. I'll put on a slightly longer stem as my legs hit the bars when out of the saddle. I'm planning to stick to bkool at the moment so looking forward to the leagues starting again. I'll perhaps get zwift too but not decided yet.

I'll have to get some advice from you nearer the time Whorty, about how best to go about finding others or timing some races on Zwift. I think I'm at the point where it'll only be fun if there's other I know there, so making a success of it will probably depend on linking up for some racing :okay:

Hi Bill. If that’s the difference between your very best and your very worst then you’re not doing too badly mate!

Wish I could join you for a few laps of Richmond Park. It’ll come back soon enough bud.
